What worries the citizens of Xàbia about their municipality?

15 March 2022 - 13: 39

About six months ago, the Círculo de Podemos Xàbia launched a survey to find out what the concerns and concerns of citizens were to improve the municipality. The 12 questions of the survey were answered by 236 people, who contributed their opinions on different topics.

After analyzing the data, the most outstanding thing, according to the spokesman for Podemos, Bernhard Feiner, is that the respondents have expressed their discomfort at the lack of lighting and maintenance of roads in urbanization areas. "We are usually in urban centers and we see their deficiencies, but we were unaware of the great lack of services in urbanization areas," indicates the spokesman for the purple formation.

Feiner has also pointed out that the survey data highlights a great concern for housing, with 51% of the votes, (its high price in this area and the difficulty of accessing it, especially young people), as well as construction massive in the locality monopolizing 79% of the votes. Along with this impact is added concern for the environment; the points on the sea, the coast, the garbage or the fires suppose an average of 60% of concern among the citizens, that is to say, that more than half of those surveyed want a solution to this fact.

Another noteworthy fact is that almost half of those surveyed, 49,8%, believe that there is little qualified employment in the locality. Likewise, public transport and the lack of leisure activities for young people between 12 and 17 years of age is another of the problems in which citizens ask for an improvement.

The complete results of the citizen survey can be consulted at this link.

Comprehensive analysis of Podemos Xàbia

From the Círculo de Podemos, the evaluation of the data is as follows: "We are surprised that there are three times more answers in the English version than in the Valencian version, even so, the results mostly coincide, except in the fields of housing, qualified work and cleaning".

  • housing concern: the results are very diverse: 75% Valencian (VA), 58% Spanish (ES), 26% English (IN).
  • Environment: It is the greatest concern of all the sections, being massive construction (79%), followed by sea and coast (71%), also one of the highest values.
  • qualified employment: consensus that there is no highly qualified employment, 113 votes against 40 (ignoring the undefined evaluations 5 and 6). Here is the second dissonance between ES/VA and IN: in ES/VA 55% believe that there is not enough work (compared to 16% who believe there is), in IN it is 38% (compared to 27%).
  • Public employment or outsourcing: There is a broad consensus that municipal employment is preferred to external hiring, 114 votes against 62 (ignoring the indefinite evaluations 5 and 6).
  • In the concern about the tourism model the saturation of the streets and the possible damage to the environment stand out, followed by the increase in prices (60%), seasonality of work (52%), the latest figures only exceed 50% in ES and VA.
  • Very broad consensus also on the need to improve the public transport: an average of 78%, the second highest value in the survey.
  • Not as broad, but also consensus (62%) on the need to improve playgrounds, action that fortunately has already been undertaken by the consistory.
  • There is more disparity of criteria on the leisure offer according to ages, although it is considered by a majority (50,4%) that it is insufficient in the age range between 13 and 17 years.
  • The third highest agreement (73%) in the need for improvement in the help the elderly and
    dependents.
  • An average of 64% think that there should be more scholarships for classes and extracurricular activities, being the surprise that in the English version this need is felt stronger (72,2%) than in the other two versions.
  • 59% of the people surveyed see the need for a increased attention to homeless people.
  • And finally, when asked cleaning, maintenance and general appearance of our beloved city, the ranking is as follows: in this section it should be noted that the people who answered in English perceive the sea, the beaches and the coast to be much cleaner than those surveyed in Valencian and Spanish.

Perhaps to do something about dogs left in the grounds of empty villas that bark day and night 24/7 ~ denounce?, easier said than done when the owners of the villas are never there. All we hear is barking, it is constant and has been for the 5 years I've lived here, it is driving my family nuts, we cannot have the windows open at night because of the noise. If I had my way, I would ban dogs altogether and the assholes that leave them to bark and whine. Disgusting how peple carry on here, fuck this place, it's a dump and all people care about are cats and dogs, lots of ferral cats, they all need shooting. Give me a gun, I'll do it and I shoot the thieves who steel the copper for street lighting, the bastards. We are selling and getting away from this dump called paradise. Half a million euros for a home with NO PEACE!!

Let all the mosquitoes die. Let them fumigate now!

  3. Angel Hernandez says:

I do believe that we have to get to know our city better to be able to enjoy it and take care of it.

  4. Pedro Diaz Manjon says:

I think that a topic that is not touched upon and that is very important is that of health and medical assistance, a city that in summer has almost as many inhabitants as Denia and it has 0 hospitals and four outpatient clinics and we have an outpatient clinic in which crushes the staff that cares for him with the same means as 3 years ago, that is, none, without X-rays or ultrasounds and we are not going to talk about an MRI, nor primary care beds and but how many urbanizations are currently being built 40, 15,20 or more, how many more people will come to be poorly served in our city, political gentlemen have thought at some point, no.

There is a lack of lighting, sidewalks, zebra crossings, cleanliness,... outside the urban area, port and sandbank.
Pure African services with Nordic taxes for those areas.

  5. worried says:

Well, it worries that a gang of incompetents, demonstrated, are taking over Jávea.
That they are incapable in ten years of solving the sanitation issue of the Municipality.
That they continue to charge a fortune for getting rid of us.
It is worrying to see the mayor and his little jacket posing when Jávea looks like Benidorm day by day.

    • Anonymous says:

Not even that, even Benidorm is better cared for than Xàbia, it's a shame

      • worried says:

        It's true, I set a bad example.
We are like a town crushed by Ferocious Urbanism, by NULL MAINTENANCE and by insulting neglect on the part of our City Council.
I hope it is clear now.

    • Pedro Diaz Manjon says:

It is already the height of stupidity and little shame to recognize that part of the politicians who are part of the government, is to say the government, that they do not know the urbanizations of the term Javea, so what are they dedicated to playing parcheesi, we want to see To the politicians in the streets, squares, urbanizations, we want a weekly meeting in the plenary sessions of the town hall so that we can be heard and know how our money is spent and hear real plans for our city, all included, and participate in their approvals.

  6. Anonymous says:

I have read the answers and I am surprised that out of almost 30.000 inhabitants only 236 have responded, or it has not been well disseminated or people are not worried about their future. I agree with most of the answers but I think that in the last section, where people left their comments, number 17 is the one that best fits what I consider necessary but the rest were also quite good

  7. Vecino says:

“We are usually in urban centers and we see their deficiencies, but we were unaware of the great lack of services in urbanization areas,” indicates the spokesman for the purple formation.

Normal, if you don't come out of the caves you are in, how are you going to know how Jávea is?
All the matches if you don't walk all over Jávea you won't see what a mess it is.
You have to get out of your comfort zone a little more, politicians, and talk with your neighbors and try to solve problems face to face.

    • Ignacio says:

IF they say they are unaware of the services in the Urbanizations, it is that they have no idea what Javea is. But there they are promising … at least they have made the pretense of asking.
