At noon on Friday, the councilors of the Municipal Socialist Group and Compromís per Xàbia concentrated, at the gates of the City Council, for demanding the adhesion of the Alicante Provincial Council to the Municipal Cooperation Fund, a concentration that took place in several towns in the province of Alicante.
The Socialist and Compromís councilors state that the "partisan" management of the president of the Diputación again harms the municipalities.
The refusal by the Diputación de Alicante, for 5 years, to join the Cooperation Fund of the Generalitat represents an economic loss for the towns of this province. Specifically, in the Marina Alta region, this 2021 almost 2 million euros will cease to be received, of which 1 euros would correspond to Xàbia.
This action, according to PSOE and Compromís, "leaves the city councils of the province of Alicante at a clear disadvantage compared to the city councils of the provinces of Valencia and Castellón". In addition, both political formations criticize that the management of the Diputación "supposes delays and collapses in the resolution of projects, execution of works or in the arrival of funds, an issue that has been serious in 2020 when the province of Alicante has received 50% less aid compared to other municipalities in Valencia or Castellón ".
Faced with this action, the protesting councilors demand an absolute transformation of the action of the government of the Diputación and the attitude of its leaders.
