The Library of Duanes de la Mar will host, on August 5, the presentation of the book 'El temps de la renda' by the author and historian, Juan Bautista Codina Bas. Codina Bas speaks in The temps de la renda of all those customs that were carried out years ago on the occasion of the arrival of summer, as well as the moments and anecdotes lived by the families during this period in which the citizens of the region went to the renda.
The new edition of The temps de la renda It narrates the personal experiences of the author himself in Xàbia in the 50s of the XNUMXth century. In this publication, Codina Bas expands on a previous work in which, with an anthropological approach, he tells his personal experiences about the times in which Xàbia families whose source of income was agricultural activity, moved to the countryside and to the houses.
This new version incorporates the testimonies of 39 people who also had the privilege of enjoying this “Temps de la Renda”, achieving a story of a time –the 50s of the XNUMXth century- whose memory is kept by those who are around the elderly and which serves to remember the past, transmit it to descendants and keep traditions alive.
