PP and C's ask the PSOE for explanations for the Ministry's denial of aid for 'Gloria'

31 March 2021 - 18: 06

The opposition political groups, Partido Popular and C's Xàbia have demanded from the government team an explanation about the denial to Xàbia, by the Ministry of the Interior, of aid for the effects of the storm Gloria.

Both formations regret that the Ministry of the Interior has communicated to the Town hall that the aid requested for a value of €440.000 is denied for emergency expenses due to the Storm Gloria that Xàbia suffered between January 19 and 21, 2020.

The reason for the refusal, as reported by the Ministry, has been that the application for aid was made after the deadline. A question to which the Xàbia City Council itself has resorted, since as indicated by the responsible councilor, Montse Villaverde, the documentation for the application was delivered in a timely manner.

Villaverde has explained that the documentation was sent within the established period, "The government sub-delegation, in its visit to Xàbia to check the damage, indicated that in its letter that the deadline for the request was one month, taking into account that the storm Gloria ended on January 30".

The City Council of Xàbia worked to present all the documentation of damages in the indicated period, this being on March 2. But, apparently, and as notified by the General Civil Emergency Directorate, who reconsiders that the storm was between 19 and 24, that Xàbia's request exceeds the deadline.

Now, the City Council has presented an appeal for replacement providing the documentation of the Government Sub-delegation in which the month is justified from January 30 and awaits a response from the Ministry.

From the PP they demand that the government take the calls seriously and work in a timely manner so that aid as important as this does not have a notification denied and more for having requested it after the deadline.

First they vote for caciques who invade the sea with cement and, when the sea recovers what is theirs, they want public money to pay the consequences of environmental crimes.

The climate crisis will bring more storms and all the money invested will be money thrown away. Insurers will refuse to cover the risks of living on the very first coastline.

    Greed has a price.
