The formation of Podemos Xàbia has issued a letter to the Javea Town Hall requesting, on the one hand, detail of the actions that are going to be carried out in gender violence before the state contribution of the funds amounting to 21.000 euros and on the other, the purple formation comments on the need to have in Xàbia a Plan of Permanent sex education, given the current serious situation in society.

We can point out that it is necessary to focus all efforts on education and reeducation of our citizenship, starting with youth. "Today, one of the biggest challenges facing our democracies is the protection of women in the area of sexist violence, since it has become the biggest scourge in history. The numbers of women killed at the hands of machismo they are unquantifiable, but the question goes far beyond the murders. The patriarchal structure of society is the main focus on the creation of false masculinities. The education imposed both in schools and in the society that surrounds us is the cause of the perpetuation of a binary system of injustice, fear and inequality ", manifest from Podemos in the writing.

Likewise, the training affects that the current educational laws open the door for municipalities to invest in social and egalitarian education, and emphasizes that pornography has become the main source of sexual information for young people. Given these statements, Podemos Xàbia urges the City of Xàbia to create an Integral Sexual Education Plan with a permanent and progressive character in the municipality and asks the town hall for information on the projects, plans and activities that will be carried out with this state contribution.

Scheduled actions

Just a month ago, when it was known that the economic contribution of the State to Xàbia within the State Pact against Gender Violence was 21.654,93 euros, from the council of equality announced that it would be used for projects or programs of awareness and prevention of any form of violence against women or in the preparation of materials to offer information on violence against women.

Now, after the request of Podemos, Xàbia.com has contacted the mayor, Montse Villaverde, who has specified that work is currently being done on the planning of the actions and there is nothing specific, although it is specified that part of the aid will be aimed at training professionals, "training of people attending cases of gender violence". Also, Villaverde has stressed that it will continue to work on the line of awareness.
