More than 10 years ago the Covenant of Mayors, a global movement initiative in the European Union by which they committed themselves to, at the local level, combat climate change by reducing CO2 emissions. The commitment was to reduce, each municipality or city, emissions by 20% by 2020.

Feiner has outlined that "the government team has wasted a great opportunity for the EU. The lack of personnel and organization have meant that Xàbia has not met the objective".
From Podemos they indicate that the Town hall it has not invested what it owed, "they have only acted through European subsidies managed by the Diputación de Alicante, but they have not budgeted specific items for this purpose". The spokesman for Podemos has outlined that the actions of the Consistory "have not been enough".
We can criticize that the government team does not bet on actions that implied a greater reduction such as public transport and is only based on the change of part of the lighting. "The city council has carried out different improvement projects in the town but it has not taken into account the road infrastructures for sustainable transport with which a large amount of CO2 emissions would be reduced," says Feiner.
Likewise, the purple formation has criticized that, from the opposition, with representation in the consistory, they have not emphasized this pact in all these years.
