11 October 2018 - 23: 53

Receiving in Memory. This is the title of the book written by the xabiero and businessman, Pepe Cardona, better known as The Rull of the Sea, about their experiences and hunting sets around the world.

Cardona receives Xàbia.com in his office of Christ of the Sea and refers to the saying of the things to do in this life, "One, when he has reason, to fill a person's life, you have to plant a tree, have a child and write a book", and that has been fulfilled by our protagonist today.

Al Rull, his fondness for hunting, comes from his friends. Through this hobby, Pepe has toured all the Spanish provinces and has achieved all kinds of national animals, although the jump to other countries occurred 24 years ago.

"When I turned 50, I gave myself a trip to Africa, I went with Juanvi Bas The Celtic and in Cameroon my hunting life began ". From there, all his experiences are told in the book he has edited, "It is a book I have written to give it to friends who understand hunting, I know I can not give it to people who do not share the same feeling and tell me that I am a criminalist. Therefore, only 100 copies have been published"Cardona said.

Pepe, who is part of the international Safari Club and has several national awards, has written this issue in an altruistic way to tell his own experiences, "I have suffered a lot hunting, especially in high mountains, with altitude sickness, and although they have been situations that I have not told anyone, because I know the answer: Rull why are you going?., I wanted to transmit it now."

Cardona reports that he is missing a continent to go, Australia, "But with the publication of this book I consider that the hunting race is already over. If I have a need for small game I will move to the hunting farm I have in Albacete."

Among his great and complicated experiences, Pepe highlights what it costs to kill a lion. In addition, the publication is complemented with all the photographs taken in Africa and the rest of the world.

"I consider myself a hunter, not a shotgun"

Cardona thinks about the people who criticize or reject the hunt, stating that "They are rude in schools. Just as they teach Catalan in Catalonia and they don't want to know anything about Spanish, in schools they also tell children that killing Bambi is a crime."

"I consider myself a hunter and not a shotgun, since when it is going to hunt the different countries, it is the government of each country that tells you what pieces you can kill, and you don't go out to the field for a while to kill whatever comes out", says Pepe and adds, "We are going to hunt the animals that have already completed their time so that young males can develop their sexual cycle, no offspring or mothers are killed and the essence of the hunter is valued and we understand it despite the fact that environmentalists and animalists are in against".

About this limited edition of Receiving in Memory, that since he has appeared on social networks, do not stop asking, it should be noted his dedication, phrases addressed to his wife: "To my long-suffering wife Mª Rosa, for reluctantly enduring my hunting trips and hauls throughout the world, and in the end, for supporting me and understanding me for my hobby since our beginnings, to this my passion: Hunting and Nature", words of passion of Pepe Cardona that remarks saying: "If I get lost, look for me on the mountain".

Now, this xabiero, who in his spare time is dedicated to writing, has undertaken a new project, the edition of a book on the local heraldry, the surnames of Xàbia although its collaboration in the books of Moors and Christians festivities, where he always writes some pages. In addition, he was a preacher and is the only founder of the party in Xàbia that continues to parade.

It deserves some positive comment, I think not. Save lives, but don't kill.

It has been lucky that the hunter is not hunted, the animals hunt by instinct, it will be that I do not pass from there and must still evolve as a human being.
