'Nada o res', by Juan Legaz Palomares

24 2021 April - 00: 27

Today I woke up a little nostalgic, or perhaps saddened, because the happy protocols forbid me to travel to oxygenate myself from the air and the sun of my dear Xàbia. For this reason, despite my deficiencies in the Valencian language, I
the idea of "Nothing or res". It is that love awakens sweet, kind, pleasant feelings ... and even passions that alleviate sadness and nostalgia.

As you well know, "nothing" or "res" has the same meaning, regardless of whether it is said in Spanish or Valencian. Well, on this occasion, my desire is to make the two words normal, not in an unfavorable sense or in denial: "nothing or res", but in the desire and positive desire of my illusion to embrace the
effluvia of my dear Xàbia that cheer my heart, that retreads me, inspires me and elevates me to heaven. And, therefore, that "nothing or res" want to convey to me that, I don't worry about "nothing or res", because soon I will be able to get drunk with the charms of Xàbia.

When I am absent from my dear Xàbia, of course, I pronounce "nothing". However, if I am in the land of Alicante, I pronounce "res" for consistency and respect with the inhabitants of this great Mediterranean land.

The plurality of languages, as well as their knowledge, are a cultural wealth that we must take care of and promote without exclusion, since we have to be proud of the great luxury that we enjoy being able to boast of the wide cultural cast that Spain has and that, not it is a matter of interpreting it as a discriminatory act, of contempt, or as an insult on that citizen who, for one reason or another, does not know the language that by tradition and culture is spoken in other regions of Spain.

Let no one be offended if when visiting a region where the Spanish language is spoken in a way other than the Spanish language. But, it is also true that you should not feel marginalized either.

I assure you that, after more than forty years visiting Xàbia, I have never felt despised or slighted for speaking in Spanish. On the contrary, I have felt perfectly accepted and welcomed as if I were in my Murcian land where I was born. Now, it also fills me with pride more than, having reached a desirable and understandable level of Valencian, although I admit that I speak it with quite a few shortcomings, despite the fact that I love to speak it and prosper in perfecting it. And so I will say:

Let no one feel uncomfortable
In the Valencian community
because in any case or way
will not be discriminated
say "res" or say "nothing",
its people understand everything.

Therefore, a few years ago I wrote: 'EL MÓN PER UN FORAT' and, among other verses, it said:

The mon per un forat
to vegades volguera know
per veure if it is true
That tot is power and diners.
Com ara hi ha little people
what a formality
it is necessary to be valent
per to esbrinar the truth.
In this embolicador concert
I always have to look
with a ull ben obert
the món per un forat.

When you have to justify something, it is because something is happening. In Jávea as in Denia they are taking a nationalist course that can only end the paradise that characterized us. A multicultural and respectful territory, but in the schools of the Marina Alta something happens when parents are unable to find a school apart from politicians and language nonsense and we can only take them to the international private companies in the area.
These schools, by the way, were located here for something, since Jávea was a paradise so it brought foreigners to live and enjoy. We will see if it is a few years his justification of the use of nonsense has not ended what was once a dream for many.
With almost half the foreign population on the streets, the signs had to be in English and Spanish, Valencian will be something cultural but it can never be imposed and each of us must have the option to choose. In your Javea you can choose less and less.
