On Sunday morning, on the 8: 20 hours, a young man from 30 years old, neighbor Senija, was killed when he was cycling along the 332 national road on his way to Oliva. The cyclist was hit by another young man, 25, of Dutch nationality and neighbor of Ondara, who circulated under the effects of drugs.
The accident occurred just four kilometers away from where the tragic accident of the three cyclists who died in Xàbia took place last May 7.
The driver fled after the accident, but thanks to the collaboration of the witnesses, who called the Emergency Center could be identified and detained in the vicinity of Vergel. The young man tested positive for cocaine, cannabis and amphetamine, and negative on the BAC test.
The funeral will be tomorrow Tuesday, at 18: 30 hours, in the Church of Benissa. As in the funeral of cyclists in Xàbia, a bicycle tour is being organized to accompany the funeral car with the coffin from Senija to the church and from it to the cemetery.
The victim was enjoying a morning of cycling, one of his great hobbies, next to a friend who was unharmed but had to be treated with a strong anxiety attack after the accident. The hometown of the deceased, Senija, has decreed three days of official mourning.
