06 October 2019 - 14: 14

The Ambolo viewpoint is part of the “Route of the viewpoints of Jávea”, and is one of the southernmost points on that route. It is a quiet viewpoint, and from it you can reach the Ambolo cove. This is the typical postcard of what you can admire from there:

How to get to the Ambolo Viewpoint

The Ambolo viewpoint is the 13 point number of this location map, so that you can find your way around and know where you are. It is one of the southernmost viewpoints.

Here you have the exact coordinates to find it:

The Ambolo viewpoint has access by car, like all viewpoints that are part of the Miradores Route. Take the Cabo de la Nao road, and before reaching it, turn right onto Torre d'Abolo street, Costa Nova area.

In just three minutes we face the area where the viewpoint begins, marked by the information panel. There is a small parking area. At this point begins a path that allows you to go down to sea level, to the Ambolo Cove, very close to the cave of Llop Marí. Currently, this cove, considered as one of the best coves in Europe, is fenced and sealed by risk of detachment.

All information about the Ambolo Viewpoint

Surely, it sounds more like Ambolo Creek, much more mentioned than the viewpoint. But we offer you all the data so that you know this point of Jávea better.

Geographical situation and history

This viewpoint is at the top of a steep coast, which has its origin in the final parts of the Puig de la Llorença (441 meters high), known because next to this peak sits the Cumbre del Sol urbanization of Benitachell.

The viewpoint and the cove owe their name to a watchtower built in the 16th century to protect against attacks by North African pirates.

What does it look like

To the north, you can see Cabo de la Nao with its lighthouse, and at the foot of the viewpoint, the cove of Ambolo. Next, we see the island of Ambolo or Island of the Discoverer, which from our perspective seems united to the continent but is really separated by a narrow strip of sea. If we continue south, there is the viewpoint of the Castell de la Granadella, Creek Granadella, and in the background, Benitachell, Moraira, Puig de la Llorença and almost Calpe.
