Citizens for Jávea (CpJ) held its first electoral meeting of this campaign on Friday night. He did it in Thiviers, the neighborhood that saw the party's candidate grow up, Mavi Pérez. The neighborhood where many of the people who make up the list of Citizens for Jávea live and the neighborhood that, according to José Prada, number 9 on the list, explained: "much to our regret, it is not experiencing its best moment. To the streets and sidewalks lack cleanliness, garbage containers are inaccessible and difficult for the elderly to open, the little ones have been deprived of the Reina Sofía park, another paralyzed project”.
Susana Ern: "We are not Chulvi's partners or accomplices, we have come to work and we have managed to save the Heritage department from collapse"
After Prada, he took the floor Susana Ern, number 10 of CpJ, and Councilor for Heritage and Market since October 2021. Ern wanted to talk about his management in charge of the two delegations that he assumed a year and a half ago. "Although someone may think that we became partners and accomplices of the Chulvi government, nothing could be further from the truth" and, he added, "in the 23 years that we have been in politics we have shown our responsibility and collaboration with the important issues of Xàbia. And when it's time to work, you work. And that's what we've done, working in the Heritage department that was completely collapsed”, Ern explained.
Among the work carried out in the department with the arrival of Ern, the mayor highlighted the acquisition of the property on Bonaventura street that will allow the Central Cinema to become a center for cultural, musical and theatrical activities. In addition, we have also acquired the land to build municipal service facilities (garbage, street cleaning) in Catarroja.
Ern also had words for the Municipal Market: “when I received the delegation there was a clear discontent with the merchants and now we have redirected the situation, ordering the common space of the Market and bidding for new stalls. As we have done? With permanent and fluid conversation with the merchants to find the balance between their demands and the needs of the people who live and buy in the Historic Center”. In addition, Ern also mentioned the file of the concession by the Port Authority to the Town hall of the lighthouse Cap de Sant Antoni to make it the Interpretation Center of the Marine Reserve and the Natural Park Montgó. “Concession that they gave us in June 2020, that in October of that year we had to have the work project approved and on March 21 to have the works started and finished in one year. Well, the project is still pending contracting, the money has not been put in and now the prices are 31% more expensive and we are in danger of losing the concession.”
Ern ended his speech defending that "from Ciudadanos por Jávea we have entered the government to unravel problems and work through dialogue to find solutions" and gave way to his party partner, Juan Ortolá.
Ortolá: "we have managed to solve the problem of the Local Police"
Ortolá also began his speech by talking about how aware he was of the dangers that being Chulvi's partners could entail: “before they said that we were members of the PP and now of Chulvi, but what they don't want to admit is that we have our own entity and personality and that our only partner is and will always be Xàbia. We have been proving it for 23 years”.
Ortolá took over the Citizen Security and Transport delegations in October 2021. In this first there was a serious problem "in recent years the workforce had been reduced by 25 agents, the police's demands were not taken into account and the discontent between them and Chulvi was clear", explained Ortolá and added, "while I was a councilor we have solved the problem of the police and now we propose to return to the neighborhood and rural police, which we already started up years ago".
Ortolá: "You cannot build 118 homes immediately, the General Plan only allows 106 but the PSOE to get votes is not telling the truth"
Regarding transport, he stressed that the current service is deficient because the Ministry's concession has expired while Ortolá has been canceled over and over again all the meetings he has requested to put solutions in place.
In his speech, Ortolá also wanted to talk about the “famous 118 social rental homes for young people under 35 who say they are going to build immediately on two plots in Pou del Moro and one plot in Arenal. Well, a fiasco is looming as with the great Parc del Rafal that was promised 4 years ago and it is neither here nor expected”, explained Ortolá.
“They are playing with the illusion of the people. First, all the City Council does is make the plots available to the Generalitat. Second, it is said that 118 homes will be built but at the moment with the General Plan of Xàbia only 106 can be built. To expand they will have to make a modification of the General Plan in Urbanism, and taking into account that for a license it takes more than a year, how long will it take for a specific modification? And, to finish fixing it, the Generalitat has to put it out to public tender so that a private developer can do the works and rent it. Private promoter who will need more than 13 million euros to finish the work (apart from the 5 that European funds give). And then recover the investment of 13 million euros and the corresponding benefit by renting the homes for a period of 50 years, extendable to 25 more. The houses should be finished yes or yes in 2026 (the European Union is very strict in deadlines) and this, with what I have explained to you, is impossible to comply with. Everything I say is totally true and Chulvi's PSOE with the desire to get votes at any price, lacks the truth”, Ortolá finished his speech.
Mavi Pérez: "Those of us who live in the Thiviers neighborhood do not want to be second-class citizens"
The Thiviers Meeting was closed by the candidate for Mayor for CpJ, Mavi Pérez, who began her speech from longing: “Thiviers was a neighborhood of the book, we had everything, including the feeling of brotherhood and neighborhood. This is a neighborhood of working people where we had all kinds of commerce, including parties. Times change and now we have a duty to give aid to existing merchants and support new entrepreneurs to make an economically dynamic neighborhood.
Pérez focused his speech on his proposals to build the miller Xàbia and, of course, the miller Thiviers. “We cannot allow more paralyzed projects that affect the Thiviers neighborhood, such as the Reina Sofía Park and the Trenc d'Alba school. We cannot allow ourselves to be second-class citizens in Thiviers, the City Council has to respond to our problems”.
Pérez defended that all the proposals of Ciudadanos por Jávea are credible and feasible. For the elderly, the mayoral candidate defended the need for Comprehensive Home Care for those people who do not want to go to a residence and have a certain degree of autonomy to live in their homes. “We have to use all available resources to make it a reality.”
Pérez: "CpJ offers a policy of facts, not propaganda"
Regarding the 3 urban centers, our priority for action, "We have to make the union between Poble, Duanes de la Mar and Arenal a reality to achieve a sustainable and compact city that promotes local commerce and generates spaces for sociability". In addition, Pérez highlighted the importance of the Montañar being the union between Duanes and Arenal, "a meeting place between 'xabiers' and visitors through a great mixed promenade that allows you to enjoy the sea and the beach."
Pérez ended his speech claiming that "making the 'millor Xàbia' is up to us and I can guarantee that we have a solid and viable project. Our list is made up of people with a great capacity for work, willing to work for Xàbia in a silent and efficient way. We offer them politics of facts, not politics of propaganda”.
