'Marinae Ensemble', Sergio Camarasa's new cultural project

12 June 2021 - 00: 44

Passion for music. This is the feeling of Sergio Camarasa, a young musician from Xàbia, who despite his young age, has a long professional career, training in Xàbia, Alicante, Warsaw and Poland. Cellist and conductor are his two facets, completely different, but that today, our protagonist points out that he cannot opt for one more than the other, "both fill me fully and make me reach an extreme level of happiness. ".

Camarasa indicates that the sensations, in each of the positions, are very different, "when I am sitting in a chair with my cello, and surrounded by all my companions forming the orchestra, or any other formation, the vibrations and connections between us are like playing a game that is based on telling a story between us. But when I carry the baton, it is another sensation, because I know that all the weight falls on me, that is, on the director. When I am on stage, I have to be clear and direct. "

And in that clarity and confidence his first professional project was born, Marinae Ensemble, a new cultural project that consists of a training orchestra for young musicians who are studying professional education at the Conservatories of the Marina Alta.

Origin

"Creating an orchestra to guarantee a place for our young musicians without having to make a long drive to enjoy music, is an idea that crossed my mind a long time ago, but I never made it a reality. Perhaps it was a lack of security and confidence, "explains the Xàbia musician.

An idea, which luckily, has not been saved, but has seen the light and in full pandemic. It was at the end of 2020 when this cultural project was born, "when I entered the Frederic Chopin University of Music in Warsaw and began my lessons in both cello and orchestral conducting, and thanks to the advice and motivation of my teacher Monika Wolinska, I was encouraged to build this beautiful project. When I arrived in Spain, I met with my two friends, Raúl and Jaime, I told them about the project and they encouraged me and helped to launch it ", highlights Camarasa.

Marinae Ensemble was born as a unique formation in our area. The characteristics that this orchestra offers "are completely different and innovative for our region", says Sergio. And the thing is, Marinae Ensemble is a chamber orchestra so it has a reduced staff of musicians, "and it is made up of string instruments, although you never know if in the future we will need wind or percussion instruments", says the cellist and director.

At the moment, the reception of this project has surprised its creator, "I did not expect such a professional response from the young musicians like the one they are giving to the Marinae Ensemble, and that is appreciated because when it comes to working, the commitment , study, enthusiasm and love for art make the result fascinating. Day by day they continue to surprise me with their reactions ".

First concert

The presentation and premiere of Marinae Ensemble, after more than six months of hard work, will be next Saturday, June 19, at 21 p.m., at the Church of St. Bartholomew. The new chamber orchestra will perform The Serenades of Mozart and Elgar at the start of this bet. Those who know about Sergio's cultural challenge are looking forward to seeing its fruits, "and I am sure that from the presentation concert, the public will welcome the project with the same emotion as those who already know something," he says.

Admission is free, but capacity is limited, so prior reservation is required. To do this, call 96 579 43 44, from Monday to Friday, in the morning or send an email to reservacultura@ajxabia.org.

The future

Undoubtedly, the enthusiasm, dedication and effort put into this new creation augurs a good future but for its promoter, "we are going step by step, and for the moment it works for us. We have to see the reaction of the public, go on stage to show them everything what we are creating and how what we are doing, after all, will always be our best critic. "

But, personally, for Camarasa, as a professional musician and after having studied in the center of Europe, "I would like 'Marinae Ensemble' to go far and continue to perform and give magical moments full of music to everyone and in renowned venues. Because I saw this there and it didn't seem so complicated. We still have a lot to work on if we want to get to that point, but I am sure that one day we will achieve it. "

Regarding the number of components that this orchestra could reach, its director maintains that his chamber music idea focuses on a small number, so the number of people I do not think is important. Each repertoire, and each style requires a number of musicians. Not for more people, it sounds better. Quality must be worked on little by little and without haste ".

Formation

The new chamber orchestra performs weekly rehearsals to create a disciplinary continuity to work the repertoire in the best possible way, and with the aim of achieving good chemistry within and outside the group among all, "which in the end the good group relationship leads to good results ", reviews the cellist and director.

To enter the orchestra, which aims to continue training young instrumentalists, a test must be passed before a panel made up of members of the project who will determine if the interested party is ready to join the orchestra. "Generally, passages of the works that we are working on will be requested. The orchestra offers repertoires from the baroque to the musical romanticism", indicates Camarasa.

For the moment, Marinae Ensemble It is made up of 11 young musicians from the age of 13: Lucía Cholbi, Desalegn Ronda and Claudia Rodríguez (violin 1); Raúl Capella, María Bolufer, Norah Bolufer and María Ortolá (violin 2); Marta Romany (viola), Jean Roselló (double bass) and Marcos Ventura and Sergio Camarasa himself (cello).

Furthermore, Marinae Ensemble offers its members the possibility to train not only as an orchestral in the chamber field, but also in other groups such as quintets, quartets, trios, etc.

And in the reality of this project, the xabiero, Sergio Camarasa, also thanks his colleagues: Marcos, Raúl, Marta and Claudia, for their trust, and of course, the young musicians who are the essence of 'Marinae Ensemble '.
