Maite Mompó presented the campaign to the Rotary Club of Xábia Stop Ecocide of the Protectors of the Earth movement that she herself leads in Spain. It is a campaign to make Ecocide the fifth Crime Against Peace, that is, a crime prosecuted by the International Criminal Court, which fights against genocide, war crimes, crimes against humanity and crimes of aggression.
In her talk, the activist explained the definition of "Ecocide", which is the destruction or massive damage to ecosystems. And he stressed that in moments of great "Ecological crisis we are experiencing (with climate change happening at great speed as well as the Sixth Great Extinction, among other things) it is essential to achieve the Ecocide Law because the Earth (and its inhabitants) urgently needs a law that protects it against havoc that corporations are carrying out ”.
Throughout his presentation he defended that when this is achieved "The world panorama will change radically since the Ecocide Law will not only end impunity for those responsible for the massive damage, but it will also prevent future damages from occurring" and invited all attendees to become Protectors of the Earth partners.
