A history museum, a driving school, a House of Culture, bio-healthy areas, a hamburger restaurant and more parks as intergenerational spaces, these are the demands that the boys and girls of El Poble Nou de Benitatxell have transferred to the Town hall through the Children's Council.

The mayor, Miguel Ángel García, the Councilor for Children, Jorge Pascual, and the assistants had to solve a soup of letters in which the answers were some of their needs. The Children's Council is concerned to improve the quality of life for everyone and, above all, for their grandparents.

The Council for the Childhood of El Poble Nou de Benitatxell was created seven months ago by the Councilor for Children, Jorge Pascual. Since then and throughout all the sessions, the children have demonstrated a positive, hardworking and integrating attitude.

This municipal council, created to give voice to the youngest and defend the rights of children (it is a mandate of the United Nations Convention), is very clear about the model of the people that children want.

Bet on integration and healthy life

The youngest asked to improve the sports facilities, to build a pavilion and to take better advantage of the courtyard of the Santa María Magdalena public school. Specific requests were to place permanent networks in the goals and baskets and improve the "skateparks", provide them with sources and posters of good practices.

Children are also concerned about the environment and climate change. Request that action be taken against the plague of the procession, as it damages pine forests.

Children enthusiastically participated in the closure of the Children's Council with the mayor. They are happy that they are given a voice and their concerns are heard. The mayor also highlighted the "trellat" of this sector of the population. He considered all his demands to be sensible and necessary, and emphasized that the proposal to eliminate the processionary bags from the school's trees will be the first of the measures that will be taken from the consistory.

The mayor, Jorge Pascual, stressed that "The children of El Poble Nou de Benitatxell are very participatory and responsible and are very happy that they are heard for the first time and that their concerns reach the City Council. The most important thing is to train them in citizen participation to develop social and social skills. civic and in the future they can be excellent politicians or citizens with a great critical spirit.
