The children of Pepe Segarra donate to the Museum of Xàbia the toga de macero that his father wore

27 December 2017 - 14: 16

The macero was a municipal official who carried the ceremonial club as a representation of power, dignity and municipal authority. He wore a unique garment of the historical and ceremonial clothing of Xàbia, the gramalla, a type of camisole or traditional blouse of red color and damask fabric, which identified the villa's macero in solemn acts such as processions.

One of the last maceros of the Javea Town Hall it was José Torres Cheli (also known as Pepe Segarra). Now, years after using that identifying garment, their children have donated it on December 22 to the Soler Blasco Museum.

With this important donation, the museum of Xàbia increases its funds and allows to observe in detail this missing garment of the javienses officials.
