The effects of COVID-19 are also causing the economic situation of many families in the municipality to become complicated, and associations such as Cáritas ask for urgent help to be able to assist all those who need it. Faced with this situation, the five councilors of the Popular Party have wanted to make a donation of € 1000 today, which corresponds to 70% of their compensation for assistance during the past month.
Rosa Cardona, PP spokesman in the consistory, has commented that they are experiencing very critical moments and therefore they have decided to contribute their grain of sand.
Cardona has underlined that in addition to the fact that four of the councilmen have contributed 70% of their monthly salary, the councilor who this month has not received remuneration has also wanted to participate by paying his part, which shows a true commitment to the needs of his municipality .
Finally, the spokeswoman wanted to send a message of encouragement to the entire population highlighting the exemplary behavior that the neighbors are having throughout the confinement: “Once again it has been shown that Xàbia is a great responsible and supportive municipality carrying out initiatives and disinterested actions in the manufacture of sanitary material, masks or helping those who need it the most ”.
