The students of Port de Xàbia will be chefs at La Mar de Tapas

El Port de Xàbia school They continue working fully on their Cuinnovart project and they take another step forward by going out into the streets and giving those who visit us a taste of their creations. This was announced by the president of the Xàbia Port Merchants Association, Cande Ros, the councilor for Economic Dynamization, juanlu cardona and the director of the Port de Xàbia school, Isabel Moreno, at the presentation of the tenth edition whose main novelty is the incorporation of the educational center.

And a total of 54 students have been involved in the tenth edition of La Mar de Tapas. An event organized by the Xàbia Port Merchants Association in collaboration with the Department of Economic Revitalization in which a total of 13 restaurants bring their best seafood tapas to the streets.

The event will take place from November 3 to 5 in the fishing neighborhood of Duanes de la Mar and will feature live music, street entertainment, children's activities and a craft market.

In this edition, the schoolchildren will prepare a typical seafood and local dish, Tomacat with spinets and coca d'oli and timonet. A double tapa which they will cook in their classrooms and sell during the Sea of ​​Tapas in the center of the Paseo Marítimo of the Grava beach. The proceeds from this cover will go to an NGO chosen by the school and the students.

Likewise, participating restaurants will bring out onto the street, right at the door of their establishment, their best seafood tapas in which seafood is the main ingredient in the recipe. To do this, citizens who want to taste the delicacies must purchase tickets and walk through the fishing district and take the route to try each of the dishes.

The price of the tickets is 2,80 euros for the tapa and 1,80 euros for the drink. The schedule for La Mar de Tapas will be:

  • Friday November 3 of 19: 30 to 23: 00 hours
  • Saturday November 4 from 12:30 a.m. to 15:00 p.m. and from 19:30 p.m. to 15:00 p.m.
  • Sunday November 5 of 12: 30 to 15: 00 hours

Ros has indicated that this gastronomic event has been moved to the first weekend of November to “try to give life to the urban center” during this month. For his part, Cardona has pointed out that this consolidated activity merges gastronomy and commerce, thus providing benefits to both sectors.

Likewise, the director of the Port de that must be consumed are those of KM 0.

Two of the fifth and sixth grade students who participate in this activity, Silvia and Daniel, have explained the process of making the native tapa that they will make.
