CEIP Mediterránea students propose that the Nature Classroom of Portitxol be an Excursionist Center

23 March 2021 - 15: 41

Bringing life back to the Aula de la Natura del Portitxol. That has been the objective of the 6th year students of the CEIP Mediterranean in your educational project We Propose (We propose). Recovering the activity of this space, located in the middle of nature and in a privileged place, is the third project that this school presents in its work to contribute new initiatives to Xàbia.

The proposal, presented by the students themselves, today, at the Casa de la Cultura de Xàbia, at the Mayor of Xàbia, José Chulvi and Councilor for Education, Montse Villaverde, tries to convert the old Nature Classroom of Portitxol into a hiking center that provides leisure space and tourist information about the area.

After a laborious study in which the students have been working since the beginning of the year with the help of the architect from Xàbia, Inés Sivera, learning to make plans and scale drawings, the official presentation, including a model, has been a success .

The sixth-grade boys and girls have explained that their project is based on reconditioning the current disused space to be a tourist information point where information on the routes to be carried out, etc. can be provided and taking advantage of the existing barbecue, complementing the an outdoor area with native species, a game and leisure area with tables and chairs, a water fountain and thus make it a meeting point for hikers.

The students have prepared four triptychs, as an example of the possible information to provide, in which they recommend four hiking routes: La Barraca, Cala Sardinera, Cap Prim and the Cala Granadella.

From the Town hall They have appreciated the involvement of the center itself in this project, which will study their proposal in the same way that it was carried out in the two previous studies; the one with the water fountains and the Central Cinema.

The CEIP Mediterrània has thanked the City Council for its collaboration in this project and the municipal archaeologist.
