The young promises of music and interpretation triumph in the Living Chess of Xàbia

August 01 from 2022 - 13: 19

The XXIV edition of the Living Chess of Xàbia was held with total success last Saturday, July 30. In this way, the Duanes neighborhood enjoyed the adaptation of the Escacs d'Amor Poem, a work based on a classic of Valencian literature dating from the fifteenth century, with which it was possible to deal with various current social issues.

The great protagonists of the show were Arnau Dkaidek Torres and Laura Bou, two promises of acting in Xàbia, along with veteran farce actor Bartolomé Bas Segarra. In this way, they directed the movements of the theatrical game in which various boys and girls from the municipality interpreted the pieces on the board.

Throughout the show, various topics of current interest to society were discussed and served to make various types of love visible: love between people of the same sex, brotherly love, filial love or love for things, among others. However, one of the highlights of the night was when the young violist Pablo Nieto López performed in the middle of the tabla Oblivion, by A. Piazzola, together with the orchestra.

The action took place on the board, with high moments in which dance and fencing were mixed. In addition, the Xàbia Symphony Orchestra performed several musical pieces that carried the common thread of history: Capriol Suite by Peter Warlock, March of the Ode to Sta. Cecilia by GF Handel, Oiseaux in the Charmille by J. Offenbach and excerpts from Gladiator by H. Zimmer, Alatriste of R. Baths and The Lord of the Rings by J. Whitney.

The audience gave a standing ovation to all the participants in this show, which was followed by a script by Raquel Violero (producer, actress and writer), Laura Bou (actress) and Joan Bou (conductor), adapting the version of the poem made in 2004 by Pepa Guardiola, Paco Reus, Dionisio Henarejos, Vicent Ferrer and José Erades and staged by Rafael Andarias.
