The will of a young xabiero leads to build two homes for needy families in Paraguay

February 17 from 2020 - 07: 27

Even if you think about having a different experience, you never imagine what can happen. This is what has emerged to José Antonio Catalá, a young nurse, a neighbor of Xàbia, who decided, three months ago, to carry out the humanitarian action he had always thought of, in Paraguay.

Catalá undertakes his trip in order to help and assist, healthily, the citizens of Limpio, a town near the capital of La Asunciación, where the health situation is very precarious, where many of the diseases eradicated in Europe, continue to occur there and in which many families live in extreme poverty.

But the mission of this xabiero goes further, serving one of those needy families opened his heart even more and has struggled to get them a slightly more dignified life. José Antonio sought support, through social networks, and with the help of two known friends there, in a health commission, they undertook the project Decent House, Decent Life, with which they got thanks to the contribution from Spain and Paraguay, materials and financing to build a minicasa, of 43 m2, to this family that has two children with disabilities and lived in a shack.

Without a doubt, a great satisfaction for the whole team that started this experience and with which they saw a compliment created a dream from nothing, "We have looked for all the means, how to promote it, how to build it, know European techniques to exchange knowledge and contribute to building improvement, etc.", Catalá points out to this medium.

But the joy was enlarged with the possibility of creating a second home, "We had plenty of materials and money saved for the first home so we decided to continue with this mini-movement and give a better life to another family. It is a young couple, 20 years old, with a young son."

This young family, according to José, lives with his father in a small shack. The young man works, but his salary is about 200 euros, "and seeing that the couple wanted to study to make a future, we wanted to give them a push and help them with this construction, give them a home and help them".

This house is already underway, in fact, about to end, work that has only taken our protagonist today, "My friends could no longer help me with this project because they had no more vacation leave, so I have undertaken it only with the aim of being able to provide a better life with the money and materials provided for the previous action".

An experience "enriching", highlights Catalá and who hopes that from there it can be carried forward. "I already have to go back to Javea and restart my life, but what I have lived here is a great experience that I would never have imagined. I am proud of the end created. With this experience I want to make people aware and change when I think how lucky we are in Having it all", concludes this young nurse from Xàbia.
