15 March 2022 - 10: 39

The collection of the Caritas market Parish of the Sea which will be held next Sunday, March 20 in the morning, from 10 a.m. to 14 p.m., on the Paseo Marítimo de Jávea, will be delivered in full to Cáritas Española for the different international Cáritas that alleviate the humanitarian crisis caused by the war in Ukraine.

With this decision, Cáritas Parroquial joins the initiative of the Valencian Church to carry out an extraordinary collection in support of the people of Ukraine. Cáritas de la Parroquia del Mar takes advantage of this call to remember the possibility of collaborating by donating books and toys, which can be deposited in the chest set up in
the second patio of the Parroquia de Nuestra Señora de Loreto.

Cáritas Española has been working in Ukraine since 2010 and since 2014 in Donbas. The contribution of all the Cáritas of Spain, including that of Cáritas Jávea, has as a direct destination Cáritas of the Ukraine and the 36 offices that exist around said country, based in Romania (with more than 600 km of border with Ukraine), Cáritas Poland , Caritas Moldova and Caritas Bulgaria, which despite not being a border country, have also begun to take in refugees.

In Ukraine, 11 centers have been equipped and there are human teams trained, based on the experience of 2014, which maintain organized assistance that includes:

1.- Distribution of hot food, water and basic hygiene kits.
2.- Safe transportation for people.
3.- Safe refuge for people who have no other option. Laundry in the centers for the entire community. 4.- Care for special cases (elderly, people with disabilities and minors). Basic emotional support and a recreation area for children (sports and crafts) are also offered to help alleviate the anguish caused by the war.

Tetiana Stawnychy, President of Caritas Ukraine, declared “I am very proud of our teams, who are working hard to be attentive to the needs of the most vulnerable. We are very grateful for the support of our sister Caritas and people of good will. Please support the emergency project. The needs grow daily.

Caritas Europa has released a statement calling for the suffering of this war to stop, while thanking the opening of borders to give refuge to those fleeing the conflict and asking for safe routes to guarantee asylum and help other non-Ukrainian people who are also fleeing.

Cáritas Española has set up different bank accounts for cash donations, which can also be made through the www.caritas.es website.
