Since last December, the Club d'Atletisme Llebeig de Xàbia has a new president. Madelane Powell takes charge of the Toni Soler for the next three years, "I take the responsibility with enthusiasm, with desire and with the experience of belonging to the board for five years. I am the visible head of the club, but the work is of the whole board, and important decisions are made among all, always looking the best for the club. "
The words of the president show the union and the team that make up the Llebeig, a club that has more than 300 members between the school and adults and who work in the same line, "One of our goals is to promote the sport from a very young age. Every year the quarry grows more and we offer more schedules so that no child stays on the waiting list", says Powell.
New Athletics Track
But another of Llebeig's goals and for which he has been fighting for years is to have good sports facilities in the future as in other towns, "The great objective that we expect is that the town hall include the budget for the construction of a new Athletics Track. We have spent years claiming that it is a necessity. We are more and more children, more partners and with the proximity of the Graüll works we are left without a clue", highlights the president.
Madelane indicates that they are working together with the councilor to see what solutions there are to the impending works, "At the moment the answer we have is provisional. Due to the lack of land we can place a new track in a specific place, but from the club we want a solution forever and not a patch."
And, better sports facilities in the field of athletics would open, even more, the possibilities and achievements of athletes xabieros.
Llebeig activities
Undoubtedly, within the effort to promote sport, the Club Atletisme Llebeig Xàbia organizes different sports activities: Volta a peu a Xàbia, granadella Trail, Cursa de la Dona, Trixàbia, Jocs Escolars, Cross Escolar, Carrera de La Bufa and Baix Montgó, eight tests that represent a great dedication, "Trixàbia being the most complex because it covers more sections, you have to organize three tests in one."
