On the occasion of the visit of the President of the Valencian Generalitat to Xàbia, the president of the Popular Party of Xàbia, Rosa Cardona, has taken the opportunity to deliver a letter about the concerns of the neighbors and the proposals they consider from the popular ranks.
The letter is as follows:
A: Very honorable President of the Generalitat
Dear Mr. President,
I introduce myself, I am Rosa Cardona, the spokeswoman for the Popular group of Xàbia, first of all thank you for your visit, I hope you and the Consell have excellent working days while enjoying our wonderful Xàbia.
Xàbia is and will be a town, we do not want changes that alter its charm, nor its day to day, but we do need to maintain and improve what we have, and this is how my neighbors transmit it to me.
Since representing the Municipal Popular Group I have had the opportunity to present proposals and amendments to the budgets of the Generalitat Valenciana of 2019 and 2020. On both occasions they have been rejected by the Consell, even with the vote of our mayor, deputy of Les Corts
Taking advantage of your visit to our municipality and through this letter, I want to tell you what many neighbors are concerned about and that only you and your government team can take into consideration. These are the proposals and amendments presented to the budgets of the Generalitat, they reflect the needs of Xàbia, and that is why I detail below the relationship of improvements and investments that need the economic support of the Generalitat Valenciana, I hope you value them and that intermediate to be carried out.
1. THE REFORM, EXTENSION AND ADEQUACY OF THE SECURITY MEASURES OF THE SURCO BUILDING
On Avenida Rey Juan Carlos I, there is a building from the 1950s, known by SURCO, which without meeting the required security conditions, remains, today, the only place where Xàbia's artistic and musical associations meet , the band and orchestra teach their classes and perform their rehearsals, concurring users of all ages.
The lack of space limits them in schedules, shifts, and it is a problem the simple fact of keeping scores and musical instruments of great value.
A reform and extension of the existing installation is needed, adapting the space to the needs of the users. It is an important and necessary demand to continue promoting music and other activities that are carried out.
2. THE PATH OF THE COAST.
It is a very important demand for sustainability. The coastal path is the route that would run along the first line of the sea, in the area of First Montanyar (Avenida del Mediterráneo) and Segon Montanyar (Overseas Avenue). It is a small investment aimed at providing an accessible walk for pedestrians, endowed with
bike lane, with sustainable materials, with lighting, provided with benches and litter bins. It is a project that with very little can be enjoyed by many.
For the Path of the Coast several projects have been made, including one of them was approved by the PP government, but when there was a change of mandate it was no longer carried out.
It is one of the most fascinating areas of Xàbia, but today this space is occupied by a car park on the seafront, a privilege for vehicles.
The proposal, not only would allow to be the best place for the enjoyment of wonderful views and healthy walks to all neighbors and visitors, but it would be the best showcase of Xàbia, as well as the best proof that we are and want to be a tourist town sustainable.
3. THE REORDERATION AND REMODELING OF PUERTO PESQUERO-NAÚTICO DE XÀBIA AND REINFORCEMENT OF ITS INFRASTRUCTURES.
Xàbia is a sea town, the port area needs to improve all its facilities, the port needs to be rearranged, guarantee the cleanliness of its waters and reinforce the security of all its infrastructure, and now more than ever, as a preventive measure of future futures.
An important investment is needed to promote the fishing and recreational activity on which many families depend on the locality.
4. THE CREATION OF A SPORTS CITY.
The young people of Xàbia demand open sports spaces, they also do not like to climb the fences of schools and institutes to play a game of basketball or football.
Xàbia athletes need sports facilities, the lack of these facilities leads them to abandon sports or go to other municipalities to practice their sport because their town lacks facilities.
Xàbia has a good cradle of athletes, they have much merit how they have managed to reach the top; they are an example to follow of many young people, but the lack of facilities does not facilitate their practice, so the collaboration of the Generalitat in these investments is essential to continue promoting sport and the healthy habits that it entails.
Pavilion, running track, paddle tennis, frontenis, soccer field, climbing wall, handball, etc.
5. THE CREATION OF A ROTONDA IN THE CROSSING OF CV740 (CARRETERA DE BENITACHELL) WITH CV747 (CAMI DE LES CANSALADES).
It is a cross between two roads with a lot of traffic and this investment would avoid many accidents.
6. EXTENSION AND URBANIZATION OF CAMÍ CABANES DE XÀBIA.
Expand the Camí Cabanes on the section that connects from the CV734 road to its intersection with the CV740 road (Ctra. De Xàbia to Benitachell). The objective of this extension is to improve traffic, facilitate access to most of the urbanizations of Xàbia, the municipality of Benitachell and, as a result of the Cami authorization
Cabanes, would reduce the high traffic of vehicles and trucks as it passes through Palmela Avenue, a road that is next to two schools.
7. DIRECT ACCESS TO AP-7.
The objective of having an access to the AP-7 is to improve the communications of our municipality with the rest of the territory.
Xàbia will be a municipality that will never have a train, that the bus service is poor; its communication with other cities is difficult; it does not have an industrial estate, because Xàbia is poorly connected to the rest of the roads; which is why we are not attractive to business, nor are investments planned, nor do we create work that does not depend on the tourism sector.
Direct access to the AP-7 would facilitate our communication with the rest of the territory, facilitate business investments, public transport and freight to our municipality, as well as prevent the collapse of the section of the N-332 road.
8. THE MUNICIPAL PUBLIC POOL
In Xàbia, there is still no municipal public pool, several projects have been carried out and we hope that the 2019 project will be the definitive one. Since 2005 there is an agreement signed between the Ministry and the municipality of Xàbia. The commitment was that the Javea Town Hall had to carry out and pay for the installation of the Valencian ball ratchet. And Conselleria was committed to paying for a pool in Xàbia for an amount of € 6.000.000.
Despite entering the economic crisis, Xàbia did fulfill its commitment, but the Ministry could not. Today the Department has only € 1.500.000 for the pool and its commitment was that it had to finance the pool at its full cost.
Currently, the pool project has been budgeted for € 5.000.000. And our demand is that from the autonomous government the pool is paid according to the commitment signed between the Conselleria and the City Council of Xàbia.
In Xàbia, although we have a beautiful town, although we live mainly from tourism, that is not everything, investments are needed that improve the day-to-day life of the neighbors, that give them hope for the future and to grow here. The xabieros and xabieras want to practice sports, artistic and musical activities in their town; they want to live
and they want to work in Xàbia and not look for work outside.
These proposals and amendments presented by the Popular Group of Xàbia to the budgets of the Generalitat would give a great change and would contribute much to our municipality, for them my tenacious demand to the Generalitat Valenciana, the institution trained to carry out these investments.
