During the past month of August, the Local Police of Xàbia has attended a total of 1.299 services, which represents a significant increase of 225 interventions compared to the same month in 2023. With an average of almost 42 services per day, the police force has reinforced its commitment to the safety and well-being of the municipality.
The Citizen Safety Unit has been particularly active, responding to 444 incidents, of which 196 were related to disturbances and noise, a recurring problem during the high season. For its part, the Traffic Accident Unit has managed 90 traffic accidents, thus guaranteeing road safety.
In the area of assistance, the agents have provided 299 services, of which 134 were linked to health emergencies.
Specialised units have also played a key role in August. The Guardian Agent and Minors Unit has intervened in 19 new cases, while the Alkaia Unit, responsible for fighting gender violence, has assisted 9 victims. For its part, the Police Mediation and Integration Unit (UDIM) has managed several social conflicts, opening 10 new files during the month.
These figures demonstrate the effort and dedication of the Xàbia Police officers to maintain order and security in the town, especially in one of the busiest months of the year.
When will the circulation of bicycles and scooters in the green zone located in the first Montañar – for the exclusive use of pedestrians – be stopped, as in many cases they travel at high speed and sometimes in a group, with a serious risk of accident for people who circulate in this area?
When you call out scooter or bicycle riders, many of them either scoff or confront you.
I think it is necessary for the municipal police
take action on the matter.
To all the Police Officers and Staff at Our Local Police, thank you for your continued efforts and dedication to your duties. It is reassuring for citizens and visitors to have a visible and effective local police working alongside the National Agencies to keep the peace and respond to emergencies. Keep up the good work, you have the support of the vast majority of the population.
It would be very interesting to know the number of police actions taken in response to complaints from residents. But it would be more interesting to know what measures the City Council has taken or will take to ensure that these complaints do not have to be made.
