The Police of Xàbia adheres to the speed control campaign of the DGT and intensifies the controls

May 12 from 2021 - 17: 11

Throughout this week, from May 10 to 16, a speed control campaign is being carried out at the national level, launched by the General Directorate of Traffic (DGT). The Local Police of Xàbia has joined this campaign, so that the main urban roads of the town have, during these days, more surveillance accompanied by radars to verify compliance with speed limits.

The main objective of this campaign is to reduce accidents, so in Xàbia, surveillance and control is being carried out on the main urban roads where, due to their characteristics, vehicles usually circulate at a speed well above the established limit. . Among these routes are the Avenida del Plà and the Vía Augusta, among others.

And it is that, since yesterday Tuesday, a modification of the General Traffic Regulations called Cities 30, which establishes three speed limits according to the type of urban road in order to reduce by 80% the risk of a pedestrian dying from being hit, as well as reducing noise, pollution and traffic jams. The new limits are as follows:

- 20 km / h on roads with a single carriageway and sidewalk platform.
- 30 km / h on single lane roads in each direction of traffic.
- 50 km / h on roads with two or more lanes of traffic.

  1. Enrique says:

It seems normal and highly beneficial that speed is controlled in the city, but you do not stick to the usual, the large avenues, come to the urbanizations and you will see what happens. I invite you to my Piloter street in Costa Nova and You will see how fast they go down the slope from the Mount of Javea. We are afraid of leaving the houses.
    regards

  2. Juan says:

Let's see, since the City Council ignores the request to install the requested speed bumps, if the Police now with the NEW SPEED LIMITS, control with RADAR the excessive speed that the vehicles reach on the straight of the last section of the avenue del Pla (between the WOK roundabout and the Consum roundabout).

  3. Jose says:

to be legal you have to put up some signs of speed controlled by radar and they DO NOT HAVE IT ON.

  4. Xavi says:

I take this news to ask the City Council to place speed bumps and elevated pedestrian crossings to reduce speed on Avenida de Palmela. Some vehicles go down to more than 80 km / h and it is scary to cross the street.

Another collection system devised by the socialist hosts, its sole purpose is to ruin the Spanish

    • Xavi says:

No, Eduardo, what ruins Spaniards are accidents and abuses that take people's lives ahead of them. If you comply with the rules, no one will punish you.

So now you know, Eduardo, you pay attention to the speed limits and nothing will happen to you. It's easy, look: if the sign says 30, you drive at 30. If the sign says 50, you drive at 50. And so on. See how easy? Come on, Eduardo, sure you can.

      • Educap says:

How little do you know about road safety, the mechanics of vehicles and the thinking of municipalities who only want to report, so they think they are more important

      • Charles says:

It is for your good, do not think, OBEY.

        • No, thanks says:

@charles. Jo, he freaks out with his extreme and pure fascism. I wonder what your job is.
Although Edu is really right and obviously you don't know anything about chainring to pinion ratios, how vehicles are manufactured for current street speeds, or mechanical tolerances.
His interest appears to be the same as the state's, fining the easiest earner, motorists, after lowering speed limits backwards to ridiculous levels that no one can adhere to.
Only to win for the capitalist government and where all the money they steal from the poor magically disappears. How much more can people take? Really.
