El Javea Town Hall, for the first time in its history, held yesterday, the extraordinary plenary session, telematically as a result of the decreed State of Alarm for the situation of the coronavirus. A way that will continue as long as confinement is in effect.
The 21 councilors, from their homes, participated in this plenary session that can be seen on YouTube in which they highlighted, in addition to the approval, by the PSOE, of invoices to comply with the payment to suppliers, the request by the opposition for the approval of the municipal budgets for 2020, as well as the unanimous election Luis Bas Segarra as substitute Justice of the Peace.
On the other hand, the spokesperson for Ciudadanos, Enrique Escrivá, asked the status of the contracting of the beach and lifeguard service. He Mayor of Xàbia, José Chulvi noted that work is being done on it and they continue with all the specifications, "as soon as it can the hiring of beaches will come out". Faced with this issue, the councilor for Finance and contracting, Ximo Segara, stated that if the situation did not arrive in time, the previous contract would be extended "since it is contemplated within the Alarm State".
Municipal budgets
Spokesmen for all opposition political groups have expressed the need for the government team to have municipal budgets in 2020. Enrique Escrivá of Ciudadanos indicated that "For the coming months, it is more necessary than ever for the government team to present municipal budgets, which serve as a road map to meet the economic and social needs of the xabieros."
The mayor of Ciudadanos has indicated that in his opinion, they must be "accounts in which we can add together to face as soon as possible the medium and long-term consequences that the virus may bring" and added the importance of "articulate emergency financial aid for local companies".
Rosa Cardona, from the popular ranks, regretted that the budgets were not yet prepared, "there has been time to approve them, those that are in force have been extended for many years".
Faced with these requests, the mayor indicated that the priority now is the Servicios Sociales that it does not have economic problems and it acts on all the people who request it. "The City Council has provided Social Services with more money, in Xàbia no one will be abandoned. We will ask the Valencian Federation of Municipalities and Provinces that a part of the remainder be used for the recovery and economic activation of the municipality"Chulvi points out.
Tourism

Agricultural sector

From Compromís, his spokesman, Juan Cardona, also showed his support for this sector, indicating that he would like to see an item for agriculture included in the municipal budgets.
Interest of the opposition
From the opposition they were interested in the game that was planned to improve the parks and gardens, to which the mayor replied that work is underway on a comprehensive reform of the Thiviers and Frechinal playgrounds.
On the other hand, the mayor of Ciudadanos was interested in saving on the lighting bill by the City Council, as a consequence of the closure of the municipal offices, as well as the possibility of reducing the intensity of public lighting, based on criteria of citizen security, in those areas that are not trafficked due to the state of alarm.
In this regard, the spokesperson for Cs has asked the municipal government if it already has economic planning to allocate such savings so that it can be used for the most urgent economic items.
