The great Valencian novel about the War of Succession, entitled The tinent anglés of writer Eduard Mira will be presented in Xàbia on Saturday 24 in November. Mira, based in Xàbia, recounts the adventures of Antoni Cruanyes, the nephew of General Maulet Joan Baptista Basset.

After two historical novels about the middle ages, The tribulations of a spy spy (Destination, 2006) and Escacs de mort (Bromera, 2010), the sociologist and writer Eduard Mira jumps to the transit of the XVII and XVIII centuries to relate the War of the Valencian Succession from a European and cosmopolitan perspective. He does it through the figure of Antoni Cruanyes, a nephew of the well-known Austrian general Joan Baptista Basset, who will go from his native Dénia to Valencia, London, Oran, Vienna, Barcelona and Almansa, in a journey as a spy that will make him a witness and actor of gallant encounters, revolts, battles, palace intrigues and endless adventures. A character who, despite his amorality, ends up becoming as endearing as unforgettable.

Valencia. Eduard Mira, author of the novel "Escacs de mort", edited by Bromera

The novel, entitled The Tinent Anglés and published by Llibres de la Drassana, combines without pause the historical evocation and humor, travel and sex, anecdotes and even reflections on the mystery of life, within an embedded set of passion and fun

Eduard Mira, member of the Academia Valenciana de la Llengua, achieves with the expression of Antoni Cruanyes' life a monumental and lively fresco, the great Valencian and cosmopolitan novel about the War of Succession that follows the steps of the epic of the Valencian maulets until the Battle of Almansa.

Having already reached its second edition and being one of the most sold Valencian novels of recent months, the work will be presented in Xàbia next Saturday 24 November at 19 hours in the Pub Duplex of the port. The event will be attended by the editor Toni Sabater, the historian Vicent Baydal and the author himself, Eduard Mira.
