One more year it has been possible to celebrate the already traditional Cursa de la Dona de Xàbia. A walk with two slopes; solidarity and equality. On this occasion, more than 700 women have joined the fifteenth edition, forming a great blue tide through the streets of the town.
As planned, the day began with the concentration of the participants on the athletics track and with the warm-up. To the rhythm of the music, the women have been encouraged to take a Zumba class.
Subsequently, and just a few minutes after 10:00 in the morning, the starting signal was given to the Cursa organized by the Club Esportiu Llebeig de Xàbia. More than half a thousand women have set out to complete the 5 kilometer route that was enlivened by the batukada, the Youth Band and the Colla dels Xirimitab's. First, the runners, and after them, the walkers; but all with the same objective, to give visibility to the equality of women in society.
Minutes later, the runners reached the finish line first, thus ending the itinerary that ran to the Duanes de la Mar neighborhood and back to the track. After them the walkers and once the Cursa finished, the checks were delivered with the presence of the Mayor of Xàbia José Chulvi and the Councilor for Equality, Montse Villaverde, to those responsible for each of the beneficiary associations of this solidarity event: AFIDO Xàbia and APROSDECO, obtaining the amount of 2.035 euros for each of them.
Finally, the trophies have also been delivered to the first participants to arrive, as well as to the youngest and oldest women registered in the Cursa, together with the draw for the lots contributed by the Xàbia merchants.
