MACMA pays tribute to historian Vicent Balaguer

January 14 from 2020 - 09: 42

"Born in 1929 in Dénia, since adolescence, with his involvement in the world of theater and radio, Vicente Balaguer already demonstrated that he would be a unique dynamic within the cultural scene of Dénia and the Marina Alta." With these words, the manager of the MACMA, Jovi Seser, introduced the tribute that the Cultural Association of the Marina Alta dedicated to the illustrious denier in the framework of the presentation of the Calendar of the Brilliant 2020, which this year celebrates 33 editions.

Next, the director of the almanac, Joan Josep Cardona, made a reminder of all the signatures that the Calendar lost during 2019 with special mention to the legacy of research and commitment of Balaguer, who participated in the project from its beginnings with his renowned ingenuity and talent. It is worth mentioning that Vicente Balaguer published uninterrupted articles in the Canfali newspaper since 1976 and always cultivated the study of daily history, of the small stories that make up the bulk of recent memory, as Seser pointed out in highlighting events such as the appointment of Vicente Balaguer as a favorite son of the Town hall of Dénia in 2007: "A recognition that although it encouraged more the cultural activism of a man of his people and his people".

The tribute was preceded by the screening of the first part of the documentary of the Calendar of Brilliants and included the audiovisual part where Balaguer intervenes. The granddaughter of the honoree, Marina Flores Balaguer, collected the MACMA memorial award in recognition of Balaguer's cultural contribution.

The almanac will continue its presentation by the region making stop next Saturday, January 25 at El Poble Nou in Benitatxell where the 2020 edition will be announced in the framework of a literary vermouth that will take place at the Social Center at 12.00.
