The MACMA convenes the 'II Illustration Contest' with the traditional trades of the region as the main theme

under the motto Tots the sabers. Els oficis oblidats, the MACMA has returned to summon the contest of illustrators. An initiative was launched two years ago by the entity so that the illustrators and illustrators of the Marina Alta captured their vision of the region and at the same time saw their art reflected in one of the walls of the new space. And it is that, in the past and first edition, coinciding with the opening of the new headquarters of the Cultural Commonwealth, the contest with the motto was summoned 'Totes les Marines' illustrates what the Marina Alta is for you. Thus, the call, which was accompanied by a representative exhibition of the work of the artists who submitted themselves to the contest, aimed, beyond exploring the visual concept of the Navy, to make known the illustration artists who work in the region.

In this second call it is intended to show the different types of jobs, techniques or crafts typical of the Marina Alta. As indicated in the bases regarding this topic, many of these trades are in danger of extinction, disappearance or already lost; thus, the contest also becomes a way of claiming and dignifying all those knowledge that are part of the regional memory.

Requirements of the works

As for the presentation format, it must be an A2 (59,4 cm x 42 cm) and, as for the technique, it must allow the correct printing with a plotter on vinyl canvas. Each participant can present a single proposal printed and mounted on a cardboard or similar, along with a CD with a graphic file of his work JPG or PNG with good resolution 600 ppp (min.) And a sealed envelope that will contain in the personal data and contact of the illustrator or illustrator (name, surnames, DNI, mobile phone, email and document accrediting the town of birth and / or habitual residence of the region). The works must be sent, or delivered by hand, at the Headquarters of the MACMA -C / Blasco Ibáñez, 50-Bajo, CP 03760, Ondara until Friday 4 of October of the 2019.

The winner will receive a prize of 200 € in cash and a batch of books from the MACMA, as well as the printing on large format vinyl that will be mounted, decorating and forming part of the venue until the next edition of the award. From the Cultural Mancomunidad all the artists of the region are invited again to participate in the call to contribute to visualize our traditional trades through their artistic representation.
