This year yes. Neither the rain nor the COVID-19 have prevented Jesús Nazareno from taking his place at the altar of the St. Bartholomew Church of Xàbia. The image of Jesus the Nazarene is already in the Church.
Given the impossibility of carrying out the traditional procession of descent of the Nazarene from its Calvary Chapel to the Parish due to the sanitary restrictions, the mayorales of the Cofradía del Nazareno have joined forces to transfer litter and image to their second home.
This afternoon, the perpetual mayor of Xàbia, Jesús Nazareno, has been transferred, along with his litter, by means of a moving truck, to the Church. In the first place the image has been loaded and in a second trip, your litter, so that everything is ready for the start of the Novena at 19:30 p.m. this Monday.
From the Brotherhood of the Nazarene they thank the Town hall the permission to carry out this transfer and that Jesús Nazareno presides over the altar, as usual. It should be remembered that last year, when the State of Alarm was decreed, just one day before the procession, the image could not go down to the parish.
Now, although we are waiting to see how the pandemic evolves, for the moment, the image of Jesus Nazareno can be seen by all his devotees, at least until next May.
