'La Història d'un Vell Rellotge' by Antonio Armell, in the schools of Xàbia

The CIRNE Foundation presented this morning, with the presence of Professor Andreu Ros and the vice president of the entity, Toni Espinós, the story written by Antonio Armell Lon (1919-2005) and published by the Foundation.

'The History of a Vell Rellotge' explains the history of watches, in this case, of the grandfather clock that knows everything that happens in the family and protects it. It is a sentimental tale aimed at young and old children, therefore, the Cirne Foundation has published 500 copies that will be donated to the schools of Xàbia for dissemination.

"A well-designed book with magnificent illustrations by Chema Remember that they remind a character of the town that has passed without sorrow or glory and in silence", says Ros.

'The History of a Vell Rellotge' is a book of oral characteristics since it was written for the radio and won, the 23 of April of 1988, the 2º prize of the program of National Radio, The Club of Life.

The original text of this story is in Spanish, although the Cirne Foundation has transcribed it into Valencian and English for maximum dissemination. In addition, the foundation has the narrative of the story made by the author and the staging that was made on Radio Nacional.

The Cirne Foundation has been able to make visible the history of this neighbor of Xàbia, although he lived little in the town since he enlisted in the defense of the Republic and with 18 years he went to the front. Armell was commissioner of war, he played in the Communist Party, he was a post-war survivor and he had a very close link with culture.

Espinós has described Antonio Armell as a very unique person, "He was sentenced to forced labor and had a privileged mind. He was a talent in commercial and administrative management. One of the great works he did was the Minaret of the Xara and he had the idea of ​​building chapels of all religions in the Muntanyeta. , had the 2ª most important personal library of Don Quixote ".

Armell also collaborated in the magazine RECULL.
