The history of the Casa del Cable and Andrés Escrivá captured in an informal way

05 September 2020 - 08: 57

The connection and disconnection that marks the history of the Casa del Cable It can be seen in the new exhibition that includes these installations by the hand of Andrés Escrivá. A young architect who begins his artistic career in this historic space.

'You'll pull from one side and I'll pull from the other' (You will pull from one side and I from the other) is the motto of this exhibition in which it narrates, in an abstract way and with informalist strokes, the history of Xàbia's communication with Ibiza, that submarine cable that linked the two lands.

In the tour of the room and contemplating the lines of each of the 19 works that make up the exhibition, we delve into that history of the past. The pieces, totally, involved in the space, transmit the union of the beginning of that connection and the separation with the "cable break".

The artist, Andrés Escrivá, accompanies us on the visit and tells us how he has integrated history into these works on which he has worked for nearly four years, "although most of them have been made during the months prior to exhibiting".

Ink, iron powder, burned wood or plaster are some of the elements with which this new artist creates, in an original and different way, his works, integrating painting, sculpture and design.

Exhibition

Today's protagonist explains that the exhibition, which can be visited until September 13, begins from the outside, marking the beginning of the journey that takes the visitor into knowing the history of the Casa del Cable, in a different way.

The creation of the two buildings, the one in Xàbia and the one in Ibiza, start the exhibition that continues inside with the connection and the drawing of the plans of the main infrastructure and everything that it entails, being 'the cable' , the main element.

Escrivá makes some changes during the exhibition, causing a surprise factor in the visitor who can find different pieces, during the same month of exhibition, "I wanted the exhibition to be alive."

Andrés Escrivá, although he studied architecture, was always linked to the artistic side; a way of integrating the lines of his projects in the hobby to which he has always dedicated himself, even if it has been in a parallel plane. Escrivá, born in Madrid and living in different European countries such as France, the United Kingdom and Germany, has found his place of creation in Xàbia. His beginnings in sculpture can be linked together with Tony Mari, the xabiero iron sculptor with whom he learned to work metal.
