24 2020 April - 17: 13

On the afternoon of last Wednesday, April 22, the Civil Guard of El Vergel received a notice from the staff of the Commonwealth of Servicios Sociales from the Marina Alta (MASSMA), reporting that they were concerned because they had not had contact with a 73-year-old British national from Els Poblets for several days, who lives alone in Spain, whom this service regularly attended to and who, This morning, she should have been assisted in person but she had not opened the door for them or answered the phone.

The agents immediately went to the scene, along with a local police force, from that town.
Once the entrance door to the home was opened (thanks to the prompt management of a locksmith in Dénia), one of the civil guards entered the house, equipped with the hygienic-sanitary protection material, in case it was a possible case of COVID-19, the other component of the patrol being left out, coordinating the rest of the steps to be taken and thus minimizing any possible risk of contagion, in the positive case.

Upon entering the room, the agent saw the neighbor in question, lying on her bed, pale and motionless, but still with vital signs. Health personnel posted to the scene ruled out, in situ, that it was a case of COVID-19. The woman was urgently transferred to the Dénia Hospital, thanks to the prompt action of the German and José civil guards, where she still remains in hospital today, already on the ground, for preventive observation.
