The Generalitat is working on an 'app' that informs citizens about the occupation of the beaches

May 19 from 2020 - 19: 01

The president of the Valencian Generalitat, Ximo Puig, has advanced that the Generalitat works on a catalog of beaches and coves in the Valencian Community, as well as on a computer application that will guide citizens on their degree of occupation when taking a decision to avoid crowds.

This has been explained after the work meeting by videoconference held with the Ministers of Justice, Interior and Public Administration, Gabriela Bravo, and Universal Health and Public Health, Ana Barceló; the Minister of Territorial Policy, Public Works and Mobility, Arcadi Spain, and the autonomous secretary of Turisme, Francesc Colomer, to address the safety of the beaches of the Valencian Community.

The objective is, as explained by the head of the Consell, "get safe beaches for citizens", something for which it is necessary "an exercise of co-responsibility" involving the different institutions.

To facilitate safe enjoyment of the beaches, the Generalitat is preparing a catalog of beaches and coves that will help to spread the word "enormous wealth" that the Valencian Community treasures in this area.

Puig recalled that 70% of the coastal strip of the Valencian territory is made up of beaches and coves, some of them unknown, so the initiative will help to publicize them. It is, has added "a great opportunity to show these extraordinary beaches" with which the Community has.

Similarly, the Ministry of Innovation works on the design of a simple 'app' that can be a useful tool for citizens to know the state of occupation of the beaches when deciding which one to go to.

The president has also explained that Turisme Comunitat Valenciana is also preparing a document with recommendations that will help municipalities to facilitate safe access to beaches. It is sought with this, he has indicated, offer the "more information" possible for local corporations, so that they have "a regulatory framework that reinforces safety on the beaches."
