The firmament, now called space or the sky due to advances in astronomy, has been an object of study and fascination for humanity throughout time. Its study provides us with knowledge and tools essential to life. In another way, the fascination is due to the interpretive egregore built on the behavior of the celestial bodies that transit it. Their movements and interactions reveal states, preferences, or projections and shed light on often inextricable events.

In this season of eclipses and celestial events, at the beginning of the astrological year with the sign of Aries, it seems appropriate to present the exhibition entitled COSMOS by Ramón Pérez Carrió (Pedreguer, 1960). He holds a PhD in Fine Arts from the Polytechnic University of Valencia and studied Biology and Philosophy at the University of Valencia between 1979 and 1984. A seasoned scholar, tireless reader, and independent researcher, he has dedicated himself to artistic creation since his early youth, whether on canvas, board, or paper, using signs, symbols, and images to convey the history of knowledge.

Through his meticulous hand, the artist of illustrations, paintings, encaustics, palimpsests, lead books, engravings, sculptures, and installations, sages, philosophers, scientists, writers, and doctors of the Church are reborn, bearers of profuse attributes and arcane iconographies, complex to decipher. His works are often objects of pictorial craftsmanship, containers of the history and inner history of wisdom, of the rise and fall of hypotheses, theories, and laws of Physics, Botany, Biology, Mathematics, Geometry... and, in this case, of the Cosmos.

A universe of planets, stars, elements, and zodiac signs that invite curiosity and imagination, those beautiful tools that art compels us to cultivate.
