The Council will collaborate economically with the municipalities in the investigation of the Cova del Moraig

Mayor of El Poble Nou de Benitatxell, Josep Femenia, Councilman Works and Municipal Services, Toni Colomer, along with consortium members Teulada-El Poble Nou de Benitatxell, Bruno Ballesteros, the ICME (Mining Institute) and Jose María Cortés (SIDMAR), met in Calpe with the president of the Provincial Council of Alicante, César Sánchez, to introduce the project and the indicative budget for research into the aquifer.

Total budget amounts to 180.000 euros, mainly for equipment, materials and conductivity sensors. The aim is that the Group Exploration Moraig draw a map that marks references conductivity and temperature to, from there, to design the scientific project accurately and develop operating scenarios and actions in the aquifer as the air dam.

César Sánchez, has said from the outset its commitment to collaboration with the consortium for research water aquifer. He has stressed that the Council "It should be the umbrella that covers this investigation”. Also as mayor of Calpe, he has promised to collaborate from the town hall calpine.

As set at the meeting, each council will draw up a proposal for its funding opportunities that will be funded by council, Consortium and municipalities involved.

The president of the council stressed the importance of a scientific project that can solve supply problems in the Marina Alta.

For his part, Jose María Cortés (SIDMAR) has stressed the European impact may be exploring a unique underwater cavity in the world. "Geological and hydrological singularity of Toix Moraig system is unique and opens the possibility to give a European dimension to the project".
