The 'cross' of the new Xàbia garbage contract

The opposition parties in the Javea Town Hall, Popular Party and Citizens, have explained, by means of a statement, their abstention in the voting of the contract of greater amount of the City council, the one of the service of collection of solid waste and cleaning.

Both formations criticize, as already indicated in the chronicle of the plenary, the lack of "transparency and participation" in the preparation of the contract.

of greater amount of the City Council of Xàbia. "A contract of this caliber should have been worked on in meetings
informative and participatory, with greater involvement when preparing the technical specifications and determining the conditions of the collection and cleaning service, and thus mark the path to the Xàbia that we deserve ", said the PP spokesperson, Rosa Cardona.

In addition, in the statement, the PP emphasizes that the contract has been awarded, "but it is the result of an insufficient technical specification that does not meet 100% of the cleaning and maintenance needs of a municipality like Xàbia. In full, the councilor for services asked us to support this contract, but her request came late, during the three years of its preparation it has become invisible, not only for the political part, but for the neighbors, for the merchants, for the hotel industry for professionals in gardening, painting, construction ..., nothing has been possible to contribute to make this a contract for everyone and everyone ".

The popular spokesperson clarifies that "there has been so much confidentiality and secrecy that they have achieved zero participation. A contract of this caliber should have been worked on in informative and participatory meetings, with greater involvement when preparing the technical specifications and determining the conditions of the collection and cleaning service, and thus mark the path to the Xàbia that we deserve ".

Cs Xàbia: the absence of revisions of the contract could weigh down the quality of the service

For its part, the abstention from the formation of Ciudadanos Xàbia in the vote for the award of the street cleaning and waste collection contract, is due to "the lack of political and neighborhood participation and lack of ambition of an elementary service such as the of cleaning and garbage collection, and that after years of delay and with an outdated service, with forced extensions, this contract fails to satisfy all the problems and demands of the residents of Xàbia", indicates the spokesperson, Enrique Escrivá.

Escrivá regrets that the opposition parties have not been able to participate or in the elaboration of a contract that amounts to a total of almost 6 million euros per year for the next 8 years, and that it corresponds to award to
all the councilors that make up the Corporation.

The orange spokesman has highlighted, in his opinion, some shortcomings of the contract such as "not having provided any service review tool during the eight years of the contract, to adapt it to the future needs of Xàbia". Enrique Escrivá adds that "despite the stock of services offered by the company, this in the long run can lead to a situation of possible lag and poor service like the one we have suffered in recent years in Xàbia with the current contract. As well as other problems, as they are not to have foreseen a map of 'black points' of uncontrolled discharges ".

In addition, the mayor has missed the fact that the contract does not take advantage of all the technological innovations at the service of better control and monitoring of the filling volume of the containers; "We must put all the meat on the grill to anticipate the overflow of containers and bins and thus avoid multiple citizen complaints in this regard, so I propose that together with the control mechanisms provided by the contract, sensors that measure the volume and capacity at which the containers are ".
