Mayor, José ChulviAnd the Councilor for the Environment, Tony Miragall, have verified the progress of the forest restoration work being carried out by the Department of Agriculture in the forest park of the granadella and that they are part of a post-fire recovery project that started two years ago and in which the Javea Town Hall, the Valencian Generalitat, the Ministry for the ecological transition and the Alicante Provincial Council.

The current works, with a budget of 461.000 euros, aim to accelerate the natural mechanisms of regeneration of the burned habitat, achieve a forest mass with greater resistance and resilience against forest fires and mitigate the risk of erosion, deforestation and low level of organic matter in soil.

For all this, there are two lines of action: on the one hand, the plant community is targeting the regrowth shrub species and with high capacity for colonization and expansion of above and below ground biomass to protect the soil against erosion and accelerate natural regeneration. post ‐ fire of the ecosystem. And the density of pimpollos of pines, adult pinar and other pyrophyte species is reduced, especially the gorse.

On the other hand, dry stone walls are being restored which, in addition to reducing erosive processes, will favor the regeneration of the plant's habitat communities.
