The Comissió de Festes Mare de Déu de Loreto will carry out its usual blood donation despite not celebrating, as such, the patron saint festivities this year. This will be next Tuesday, August 18, at the Casal Fester located on Severo Ochoa street of Aduanas del Mar.
Aware of the current need for donations that exists, the Festes Commission has contacted the Center for Transfusions of the Valencian Community in order to be able to carry out the traditional collection and give priority, despite the health emergency, to those activities of a solidarity nature that the festive entity develops throughout the year.
The donation schedule will be, in the morning, from 10 a.m. to 13:30 p.m. and, in the afternoon, from 17 p.m. to 20:30 p.m. The Comissió de Festes will prepare its headquarters according to the indications received by the Center for Transfusions. Among the safety measures adopted is the mandatory use of a mask during the entire collection, washing hands with soap and water before using the hydroalcoholic gel and maintaining the safety distance between stretchers and in the waiting area. The stretchers will be covered with disposable sheets that will be changed as each donor uses them and the pens that the organization delivers to fill out the corresponding forms will not be returned.
In order to take extreme precautions, the Transfusions Center recommends that anyone who has had a respiratory condition or fever in the two weeks prior to the donation, refrain from going to donate.
The Valencian health body warns about the importance of participating in this type of donations that are made locally since "reserves are below what is advisable". In the Community, 650 units of blood are required per day to meet the hospital demand, so this type of initiative becomes more essential than ever, taking into account the months of paralysis due to confinement.
