The Moraig cove reopens this Saturday with a capacity of 400 people and prior reservation

03 July 2020 - 18: 42

The Covid-19 has forced us to adapt all our habits and the beaches are no exception. The Moraig cove of Poble Nou in Benitatxell reopens this Saturday, July 4 with certain new features and security measures, such as a maximum capacity of 400 people and the obligation to pre-book through the 'AparcarE' App, a leading system in the Alicante province.

Although the application is currently in the testing phase, it will be fully operational starting next week. For this weekend, when hundreds of visitors are expected, a private security guard hired by the Town hall it will control the accesses and close the barriers once the capacity has been completed. In addition, in a few days the reinforcement of four beach assistants hired by the Generalitat is expected.

Users must park their vehicle in the parking areas enabled in the 'tallat', at the top of the cove and next to the access of the Ruta dels Testos, and walk down to the beach. In this section, barriers have been installed to prevent the entry of cars, two booths for controllers and a Tourist Information Point. Only authorized and emergency vehicles will be allowed to enter.

In addition, access to Cala dels Testos and Llebeig cove will also be controlled. In them, the entrance of minors will be regulated and it will be obligatory to wear appropriate footwear. These measures are taken after the numerous rescues in recent years caused by the increase in users and their lack of knowledge of the terrain. These are coves with accesses of high difficulty that have ravines and descending sections with rope on a slippery limestone rock wall.

Recommendations and rules of the beaches

From the consistory they remember the importance of complying with the rules and instructions, both of the beach attendants and of the posters, for a good coexistence and care of the beach. "The Moraig cove is an environmental treasure that we all have to take care of in order to continue enjoying it for many more years."

The beach regulations, in force during this summer, are as follows:

- Stay home if you have symptoms.
- Maintain a distance of 2 meters between bathers. If not possible, wear a mask.
- Respect the signaling of entrances and exits.
- Do not throw cigarette butts and debris on the beach.
- Avoid contact with surfaces, wearing footwear.
- Wash your hands after touching common elements.
- Do not touch your mouth, nose, or eyes until you wash your hands.

Resumption of works in Cala del Moraig

The Moraig cove, which has been in works until this Friday, July 3, to repair the damage to the storm Gloria, will open for bathers to enjoy until Sunday, August 30. Once the summer high season has ended, the Provincial Coastal Service will resume adaptation work to repair the damage and renaturalize the beach environment on September 1.
