The Library of El Poble Nou de Benitatxell has received the Maria Moliner Award to the animation of the reading. This award, granted by the Ministry of Culture and Sports in collaboration with the Spanish Federation of Municipalities and Provinces (FEMP), recognizes the best initiatives for reading animation in public libraries in municipalities with less than 50.000 inhabitants.

Among the best projects chosen this 2020 is that of the Poblera Library 'Arrive from the mà' (Read hand in hand), whose objective is to instill the reading habit in children from a very young age. “We believe that from the moment our children are born, we have to take them by the hand and accompany them on the reading journey with a book under our arms. It is clear that if they are very young they will not be able to read, but they can look, touch, listen ... ", has explained the municipal librarian, Lola Bolufer.

'Arrive from the mà' It started in 2019 with a first meeting in which the opinion of parents was heard
and mothers from the municipality and various suggestions and proposals were put on the table. Since then, framed within this project, activities such as contests have been carried out 'A pet for the Library', 'A poble that wrote and viu' (micro stories), 'El Poble Nou in vers' (mycorpoems) and the
de 'Mural Design of the municipal library', thanks to which the façade of the cultural center today looks the most colorful.

Also storytellers and drinkers, the cycle of talks for families 'Educate in emotions' or the Bebeteca, an initiative that every year grants newborns the library card to start them from the cradle in the world of reading.

Thanks to this recognition, the Poblera library will receive a subsidy of 2.000 euros to expand its bibliographic collection. An aid that, as pointed out by the Councilor for Culture, Víctor Bisquert, "It will allow us to continue investing in culture and knowledge, something that our library can boast of, since it has a very extensive reading offer for all audiences".

Bisquert has also highlighted the great work of dissemination, inclusion and twinning that is carried out from the cultural center, and has highlighted, in particular, the work of its librarian.
