The bay of Xàbia was filled with sails during the past weekend, with the dispute of II Autonomous Windsurf TrophyOrganized by the Club Nautico de Javea.
The test was played with good wind conditions the first day (Saturday), with speeds that have oscillated between the 8 and 10 knots, in which all the planned sleeves could be disputed, while in Sunday the conditions were similar, although in the Formula Foiling class only one of the planned games was played.
The winners were José María Alcañiz of the Santa Pola Yacht Club (Bic Techno sub15), Javier Clement de Santa Pola (Bic Techno sub17), Sofía Boscarol of the Costa Blanca Yacht Club of Alicante (Bic Techno plus), Jorge Aranzueque de Santa Pola ( RSX), Rafael Ros of the EV Seasurf Patrol (Raceboard), José Luis Boronat of Club Nautico de Javea (Formula Foil), and in the Children's Winsurf category, in which all the participants were from the CN Jávea, the best has been Rubén Costa.
This regatta coincided with the call made by the Confederation of Yacht Club Associations of Spain, of which the xabienc club is part, to commemorate the V centenary of the return to the world of Magallanes and Elcano. A commemoration in which it was intended to transfer to the youngest the feat of these two important navigators in the history of the Iberian Peninsula.
For this reason, the Yacht Club of Jávea delivered on Saturday afternoon to the participants in the trophy of a commemorative diploma. In that act, Commodore Rafael García Bartual wanted to remember that Magallanes and Elcano left Spain 500 years ago with a crew consisting of more than 200 people, of which less than twenty returned to Spain.
