During the past Christmas, and for the second consecutive year, the Autism Association Xàbia offered the Escoleta with therapeutic intervention in the facilities of Trenc d'Alba school.
The Christmas school has been organized in a classroom divided by work spaces, composed of three groups with a maximum of five or six children. Each group was supervised by a professional of therapeutic pedagogy, psychopedagogy and psychology. In addition, it has been counted as volunteers with future professionals of education, as well as students of psychology of the UNED who have chosen Autismo Xàbia to carry out their extracurricular practices in order to train with the professionals of the association and especially for Know and learn about Autism Spectrum Disorder.
This project is designed to give continuity to the psychoeducational intervention that is being carried out with this group. Therefore, in this Christmas school, students with autism have worked on aspects related to therapeutic pedagogy such as executive functions, social cognition, fine and gross psychomotricity, stimulation of oral and written language, symbolic play, and social, emotional and communicative skills.
In this second edition it was possible to enjoy a Bioconciencia® session, offered altruistically by the professionals. Through this method it is possible to stimulate and develop social interaction, emotional calm, movement and motor coordination, as well as the promotion of verbal and non-verbal communicative interaction.
