Juan Ortolà (Citizens for Jávea): «It is time to practice a proximity policy and say goodbye to the roll policy of the absolute majority of the socialist government»

May 20 from 2019 - 07: 11

Xàbia.com interview today with Juan Ortolà, head of the list of Ciudadanos por Jávea, an independent party whose only goal is to improve Xàbia "thinking of the neighbors". Ortolà tells us about his project for the 26 elections in May of 2019.

-First of all, and although you've been in politics for many years, who is Juan Bta? Ortolá?

I am Juan Ortolà, I am 56 years old, I am married and I have two children. Administrative work at Font Gestors Administratius for 38 years. I am councilor of Town hall of Jávea by the independent party Ciudadanos por Jávea. I have been part of the AMPA of the María Inmaculada School, of the Xàbia Sports Club Board of Directors, I have been president of Fogueres and I am currently President of the San Antonio Abad Association.

-Why have you made the decision to head the list of Ciudadanos by Jávea again and present yourself to the elections?

I have been encouraged to lead the Citizens for Jávea project because I have a vocation to participate in political life, helping to improve and transform my people from proximity to citizens. I like the municipal management of day to day, I think it is important that there exists in Xàbia a local political option whose only priority is Xàbia and that does not respond to the interests of national parties.

The local debate must be focused on who presents a more realistic and feasible project. Our environment is unique but our young people leave for lack of opportunities and our elders need specific policies to take care of them.

I do not consider politics as a way of life. I am here because I like to participate in the decisions that are adopted in my town.

- How do you describe the team that accompanies you?

The list of candidates that accompany me would describe her as a group of sensible people with different profiles and sensibilities who bring their experience, ambition and enthusiasm to work for their people, which is not little capital in these times when young people are not very the work of engaging in politics.

- What priority action do you think Xàbia needs?

I would distinguish two axes that are priorities and to which we must give a strong impulse. First, to improve the image of the 3 urban centers of Jávea and the routes of union between them, as a previous step to adopt measures for their revitalization starting from the values of each one of them to turn them into open commercial centers where trade, sector tertiary and residents.

So, in the Historic helmet, which revolves around a national-historical monument such as the Church of St. Bartholomew, it would be necessary to provide fiscal facilities by lowering the property tax, subsidize the repair of facades and listed buildings, and adopt measures that encourage the establishment of businesses by young entrepreneurs. In short, make it attractive.

En Duanes, and starting from such an emblematic reference as the Church of Our Lady of Loreto, we must put in value the essence of the fishing village, writing and executing a project of urban improvement for the environment of the parish church.

And in the Arenal, act on the areas that were developed in the 60 years of the last century and that present a greater degree of degradation and marginality, reconverting spaces and creating a Multifunctional Cultural Center with Library that results in greater social cohesion.

On the other hand, a crash action in street cleaning and in the maintenance and clearing of roads and public spaces. You can not demand and punish individuals to maintain the conditions of decoration of their plots, even to impose heavy penalties, and that the municipal plots are in the degree of deterioration in which they are. That is not a receipt.

- What is the main objective of CpJ to initiate a change in Xàbia?

The main objective is that Xàbia awakens from the stagnation in which it is: Lack of opportunities, lack of affordable housing, paralyzed projects, shops without expectations ... In short, make Xàbia a friendlier, more welcoming and more plural city.

- How is your assessment of the management of the last years of socialist government?

I would say that they have managed the City Council and the budgets messily, without establishing priorities and without distinguishing between what is important for Xàbia and what is accessory. It has prevailed the "jump of the bush" on the decisions considered and that has meant that the City has become an inefficient and inefficient organization in which planning is lacking, coordination between councils and in which many energy is wasted and lost a lot of time in solving problems that require an immediate solution. In summary, the lack of coordination has been the keynote.

- Tell us about your electoral program ....

The 6 fundamental axes of our program are the following:

- Revitalize the three urban centers (Pueblo, Duanes and Arenal), adopting in each case the precise measures; conditioning works and improvement of the urban image; fiscal measures to facilitate the establishment of local businesses, housing and business subsidies to encourage the involvement of citizens in the enhancement of our municipality.

- Convert Avenida Puerto - Juan Carlos I into a boulevard with wide sidewalks and trees that join the old town and Duanes.

- Condition the first Montañar so that, without major interventions that distort its natural beauty, it becomes a walk where you can walk, ride a bike, revive traditions and, in short, enjoy healthy leisure on the beach.

- Modify the General Structural Plan in a double sense, first in that of providing social and rental housing for young people near urban centers and in areas that are to be developed immediately and not 15 or 20 years from now, as the current proposal for a General Structural Plan. And second, in reducing the surface of the interior reform areas provided for in the current PGE proposal to facilitate the development of the small local builder. What is not acceptable is that they have designed a General Plan that complicates urban land management instead of facilitating it. The areas of management are too large and require large investments that cannot be undertaken by the local businessman and will not be worth the excuse he uses Kika Mata When he talks about the awarding of works: "Now they force us to take them out to tender to benefit the large
Business".

- Regarding Services, prioritize cleaning, clearing roads and public spaces. In the matter of urban solid waste collection, bring the collection points of small household goods closer to the citizen. Change the collection system in the traditional centers, implementing the door-to-door collection. You have to remove the
large containers located in front of the facades of the houses of the traditional nuclei. Adopt measures so that the green points stop giving the image of landfills.

- Regarding cultural infrastructure and education, our proposal is to turn Central Cinema into a space for youth, use the Candelaria House, create a Ludoteca for children from 6 to 12 years and create a Cultural and Multifunctional Center in El Arenal with Library that serves as a dynamic of the cultural life of the Arenal and bet on the construction of an Integral Center for Vocational Training next to the IES no1. And naturally start and finish in time the works of the Auditorium and Triana Bridge that due to bad management remain stagnant.

- What would you ask the citizens?

I would ask you to vote thinking of local code. Here the ideologies do not count, but it is about assessing the reliability of the candidacy and seeing which we believe is better able to manage the day to day of our municipality without having to submit to the dictates of Madrid or Valencia and to fulfill its promises from the proximity and closeness with the citizen. And that way of working has already been verified by Javienses when CpJ has managed areas of responsibility in the City Council: Education, Services, Parties, Citizen Security, Agriculture ...

The proposals of all the parties at this point are not so different and what I ask the javienses is that they trust in the capacity of our candidacy that is formed by people accustomed to manage in the private sphere and with the ability and enthusiasm to do it in a disinterested way for his people.

And I would add that as much as the socialist government does not tire of repeating that Jávea is doing well, that the ARIs will not pose a management problem, that Javea is very clean and that the small businesses in Javea will have plenty of work doing reforms, the good true is that looking at the management of these 4 last years, we must conclude that although they repeat a thousand times the same lie, will not make it true, and that the roller of this absolute majority has been characterized by arrogance to govern, has only worked for theirs and has had no generosity in incorporating the ideas of others.

We can not continue with this situation!
