The researcher, Juan Bautista Codina Bas, delivers to the Municipal file of Xàbia of two of his research works, Annals of Xàbia. It is about two volumes that collect more than 30 years of intense work of documentary compilation by different Valencian and Spanish archives.
With this donation, Codina provides an important source for future researchers who want to reconstruct the history of Xàbia. The Councilor for Culture, Quico Moragues, has appreciated the delivery of these volumes and has valued very positively "That people like Juan Bautista Codina give an important part of their time, their talent and their perseverance to work for the memory of all the xabieros".
Annals of Xàbia
In the works Annals of Xàbia; In the volume before the 1800 year, editions of the booklets are made, which are the result of research that began in the 80 decade of the 20th century. The interest of this publication is the accumulation of footnotes giving the origin or the author. Being a localist book you can find information about our ancestors as well as events of daily life.
In the second volume, which dates from 1800 to 1849, it is told when Xàbia was walled in the first half of the 19th century and the geographical demarcation changed from the Kingdom of Valencia to the province of Alicante. With the presence of the deputation and the judicial parties, the election of the representatives of the townspeople is a historical milestone at the local level.
