José Manuel Gil, athlete from Jávea 678, will perform the Triple Ironman for 'Tourette Syndrome'

21 March 2019 - 11: 47

It hardly takes a week for the Triple Ironman Non Stop-Jávea 678 give the starting gun. It will be the next 29 in March when this hard test starts with the swim segment (11,4 km) through the bay of Xàbia and will continue during the 30 and 31 days of March with the bike circuit (540km) and running (126km).

This medium has echoed the great purposes and personal challenges of the participating athletes: Aaron Reza, César Guilbert, Josin López (Somoano) shows his support for the ELA.

Today we know the story of José Manuel Gil, a young man from Madrid who will fight and participate in this Triple Ironman for giving visibility to Tourette Syndrome, a neurological disorder characterized by many motor and phonic tics.

And, in addition, Gil also wants to show that when you want you can carry out what you propose. He personally suffers an 52% disability due to schizophrenia, a mental illness that affects some brain functions. José Manuel reports that sport helps him overcome this disability and adds that he faces Jávea 678 with a lot of encouragement, "The test lasts three days without stopping and I carry a strict medication, but that is not why I just stop doing things. With desire, every person can try to lead a normal life."

This athlete from Madrid, who has participated in six ironmans and two ultra-triathlons at 100km, started with this challenge due to the Tourette Syndrome as a result of knowing two children who suffer from this disease at the soccer school where he trains, Sergio Pachón Football School and Antonio López. Since then, many have been the support received and contributions made for this purpose, even to a message from Vicente del Bosque, former coach of the Spanish national football team, giving his encouragement to participate in the Non-Stop Jávea 678 Ultratriathlon.

Gil also has the help of Sergio Pachón Football School and Antonio López and the AMPASTTA Association (Madrid Association of Patients with Tourette Syndrome and Associated Disorders).
