It was not surprising that the mayoral candidate of the Socialist Party of Xàbia for the next elections (in May 2015) was the current mayor of the municipality José Chulvi. On a political level, the mayor is enjoying a placid mayoralty. At his right hand he has the two parties that could make the most opposition to him today and regarding the opposition, properly speaking, with the formations of the Popular Party, Compromís, Nueva Jávea and the group of non-attached councillors, there has hardly been a stir except for timid claims that, on many occasions, have not had an impact beyond the plenary sessions in the town hall.
Therefore, the PSPV-PSOE of Xàbia has announced the candidacy of Chulvi for the next elections without local primary, already said the mayor at the time, in the wake of the process carried out at national level by the Socialists to designate were held secretary General of the party.
However, the logical unanimity before the designation of José Chulvi as the only candidate in an assembly with a large participation of militants and sympathizers, was reason enough to discard the announced process and for the socialist group to designate its candidate.
Given this support party, the mayor could only acknowledge the gesture and emphasize his maxim that in a complex time as we are living today, "politics and political role are necessary".
