Next Wednesday, June 12, the Parador Nacional de Xàbia will be the setting for the conference 'Media and Sports Tourism: How the Marina Alta becomes news through sport', organized by the Generalitat Valenciana.
The event will begin at 10:00 a.m. with a talk on the impact of sports communication at the regional and local level. The international success of the Valencia Marathon will be analyzed, with the participation of Juan Botella, manager of SD Correcaminos, and Álex Heras, communication director of València Ciudad del Running.
At 10:45 a.m. the growth of unique sporting events will be explored, highlighting the granadella Trail of Xàbia, organized by the Club Esportiu Llebeig and the I Triatló Teulada Moraira.
The day will continue at 11:30 a.m. with a discussion about how the Marina Alta has quickly become a training destination for elite cyclists. Ángel Casero, former professional cyclist and champion of the 2002 Vuelta a España, Aritz Arberas, sports director and physical trainer of Lidl-Trek, and Alejandro García, director of the Parador de Xàbia, will participate.
The closing of the event, at 12:45 p.m., will be led by Juan Zaragozí, director of the Circuit a Peu a La Marina, who will explain how popular sport can strengthen community cohesion through local events.
The inauguration will feature interventions by Nuria Montes, Minister of Innovation, Industry, Commerce and Tourism, and Rosa Cardona, mayor of Xàbia
