This course aims to reflect on the cultural and ideological foundations of inequality and its mechanisms of reproduction and legitimation through socialization and socio-cultural institutions.

Attendees will discuss resistance and male advances towards equality in different areas: family, work and social, analyzing the new models of femininity and masculinity existing from a gender perspective. Likewise, special attention will be given to the adolescent and young population and the processes of social change.

Objectives

The objective of the course is to provide essential knowledge on gender equality in order to achieve real equality between women and men in everyday practice. And provide the keys, instruments and concepts that enable the implementation of measures, programs and projects for equal opportunities between women and men. It also aims to know the bases of behaviors and ideas about unequal relations between the sexes in our social environment in order to offer an education that seeks effective equality and allows new forms of femininity and non-sexist masculinity.

Course content

The courses will be structured in five face-to-face sessions Four hours The first will consist of an introduction to basic concepts and will address the relationship between work, unemployment and gender. The second meeting will address education, socialization and gender, as well as the masculinity and gender. The third party will deal with Couple relationships, social sex, gender and violence. The fourth the identity and gender and gender, identity and language. Finally, the fifth session will bring the attendees to the body worship, gender representations and new sacralizations, as well as current feminism and social movements.

Classes will be held on Fridays 31 in January and 7,14, 21 and 28 in February from 16: 30 to 20: 30 hours in the Espai Molí (C / de les Escoles, 2). The evaluation system will be based on the active and participatory attendance of the students in the classes. The 20 theoretical class hours in the classroom will be complemented with 5 non-face-to-face tutoring hours through audiovisual materials, readings and text comments.
